I gave up the short board for the longer, because it offers a great deal of fun without the potential for broken bones; I'm an old guy, so I don't really care to deal with broken bones. I will still pull out the short funboard and do a bit of whipping about but sans the uber tricks. I mainly carve it up on my 48" sector9 pintail. It's often a welcome break from the hectic 9 to 5.

Gort-

I ride a longboard, too. In fact I started for the same reasons you did.

Funny thing is, I got my worst skateboarding injury ever on a longboard. I was riding at dusk down a hill near my house and hit a small pothole. I went flying about 15 feet and broke my arm in two places.

It's still fun, though. Very Happy

It's a shame you don't live closer to VA! It's been hard finding people who skate(esp. longboard) since I moved out here from CA.

P.S.- I ride a Powell Borst Missile on old school Indy 169s I found at a garage sale. Very Happy

OOOWWWWW!!

I came close to something akin to that about two years ago whilst bombing and carving a major hill in a commercial area (it was sunday, and the place was deserted). I have since been pretty darn cautious; any place that I feel inclined to carve/bomb is placed under inspection - I'll walk the whole thing looking for anyplace that might be deemd unsafe. There's plenty of places in Atlanta to skate - lots of hills and stuff, and if you've got the kahoannies the mountains are just 45 minutes away. I also max out my protection (gloves, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads, helmet) when on any surface street.

I have a couple of buddies here in Atlanta that LB too; we have a huge parking deck system at our disposal - 8 floors of drop, drop, drop, and then the lift (aka elevator) back to the top.

It's a great time, and we all enjoy it. If you're ever down this way...

Smile

stainfall...

Great decorum. Let's see...

Since most of us are or will be PROFESSIONALS, what do you think we'll say when we see "Stainfall Design" anywhere?

Moron.
