I'm working on a t-shirt design and I need some feedback. I don't usually draw charactatures, so I need to know if this looks okay. I've included the sketch with some ref pictures.
and the Refs
Any help will do! Thanks!! _________________ Staff artist for Realms of Evil games. |

huh cute
I know its supposed to be a characture but I think making the facial features smaller would help out a lot _________________ i have seen it all, i have done it all, i can't remember most of it? |

I agree, smaller features would make it feel more child-like. You should also be using the proportions of a childs head (you've used the proportions of an adult/manga head). An adults eyes are just about halfway down the skull, while a childs eyes are somewhat farther down the skull (depending on their age). In other words children have much more forhead and brain-pan space above the browline than an adult (proportionally). I'd even exaggerate that, since it's a charicature, and I'd make the head bigger in relation to the body (again to make it feel more child-like). Also a little thinner neck (O.K. a lot thinner). Children have pretty delicate little necks compared to what you've drawn. Don't get discouraged though, charicatures are very hard to do well. _________________ Smokey, this is not 'Nam this is bowling. There are rules. |
