i'm searching for an english word.
there must be a word for the german "spannungsbogen" or "spannungskurve", which describes the way a song or movie is 'evolving'(word doesn't really fit) during its length. like let's say a song starts kinda quiet, then slowly gets louder, then quiet again and finally ends.
how would you call that whole thing?
blargh. the description doesn't make any sense at all.
asked every online dictionary i could find, but none could provide me with any help.
maybe someone knows what i mean and can help me out? _________________

Well, I know that whenever I worked on mods and such we referred to it as "dynamic music". That would be the closest thing I can think of. _________________ My Art.

Heh, it's funny because the vast majority of words used to describe music aren't in English.
Anyways, I am fairly sure there is no direct English translation for the concept you describe, so it might be one of those idiomatic type things. _________________ QED, sort of. |

"Progression" would work, if you're talking about the way things change over the course of a song.
Examples:
"The song progresses from a muffled, sombre introduction, to a frenetic climax, and then draws to a hopeful yet whispering resolution."
"The song had a fairly straightforward progression between its start and end points." _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Does progression work combined with other words like for example tension? Then "the progression of tension during a movie or song" (hehe) might be what he means or something like that ![Embarassed](images/smiles/icon_redface.gif) _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

matthew, i think you are the last person who should be posting in a thread concerning proper english. go back to your grade school, learn some basic grammur and speling and after that i will consider changing my thoughts, but don't count on it. _________________ made a man out of me, a killing machine.. |

I think Spannung translates into tension in this case.
Btw does anybody know a board for language/vocabulary questions? _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

thank you all!
progression comes very close.
although it would be even better if there was another word which meant 'progression of tension', to get a really exact translation. but i guess progression will do.
thank you! _________________

Blame Eyewoo for kicking this into my head:
"A tall man wearing nothing but his 'birthday suit' stood silenty in the dark corner to my left. I couldn't help but stare, what kind of man would be standing naked in Denny's at 4 am!?...he apparently noticed my oogling and began walking in my direction - I slumped in my chair - as though somehow this would render me completely invisible like a Klingon Bird of Prey activating it's cloaking device.
As he approched, coming out of the shadows, I could see his flascid penis swaying in rhythm with every step. A sudden feeling of fear overcame me, like some kind of physical mass crushing down on my body, I could feel my blood tingling...but I didn't know if it was true fright or embarrassment that a large naked man with his penis dangling about was approaching me. It could only be described as Erectile Tension. Or maybe even Testicular Suspense!! I was paralyzed...
::Attention Deficit Disorder kicks in::
I leaped for his bulging manhood with hungry lips. My throbbing, young, teenage pussy was dripping with desire. His massive cock was too much for my petite mouth...but that wouldn't stop me...I had to have him inside me.
::Attention Deficit Disorder kicks in::
"Haggis!!", I screamed. Yes, the one substance known to flatulate massive razorblades when provoked at knee-point.
"kneoontz oontz oontz!", The badger cried back in anguish.
"Don't say that! You'll ruin everything!", I urged, but it was too late..."Shit, You've cracked the rectal-glass on my h8tonium reactor!"
The porpoise laughed with a crooked smile, "muhaha"
I Now feared I might turn into a peanut, "Now I fear I might turn into a peanut." I said. This reminded me of the divine teachings of Epidermis.
Epidermis wrote:
shove the unsalted satan peanut down the meatus
The meatus is strong, the meatus is wize.
The meatus will lead us to the fetus.
the meatus has seen many things many of us will never see
yet, blinded like a priest in a chinchilla factory, we will succumb to the many horrors of meatloaf protruding from our ankles. Do not be fooled by the meaty-whispers of the loaf. It can only burble lies.
the loaf is beyond us in its multiple orgasmic whisperification.
for only the retractical testiculation spell can break its jeans."
I now felt that I finally understood,
Once nuzzled deep inside the creamy juxtaposition of the loaf you will no longer feel pain. You will only know what is true: Mangina have no feet.
"no feet!? noooooooooooo" said The End. |

HEY< WAITS! I be good in english too. Is be like, RISING ACTION when it be getting louder, taking you to... THE CLIMAX and be later, the song get quiet, which represents THE MOOD and it calms down with the denouement. Or it be like...development, or like when i be like, teacher said i be gifted student and send to a special school, i be WORRIED. so the music then would be do all changing, like, worriedly! maybe that's the word you be looking for. _________________ girls like shining |
