thats what came out of me last night...
I'm very unhappy with what I'm doing cause I know I could do stuff a lot easier. Erm. As you can read I'm using greyscale.. shade with d'n'b (dodgnburn) and do colors afterwards. I think some of you guys are already vomiting onto their monitor but just get my problem right to help me out of that.
I want to do just normal easy paintbrushwork. Starting with color! And ending with it But if I use the Brush I always end up hating my self, my photoshop an everythin else.
Last time I discovered another option beneath the opacity setting of the brush.
In german its "Fluss" maybe its called flow(set to 100% all the time). If I turn this down to 5 I come to where I can make more mistakes etc. This was a great discovery for me and helped me alot... But I need more... Problem is with Brush I allways stay tooooooooo blurry and rough and blending is hell!
My questions are:
How do I blend with the PS Paintbrush?
How do get sharp and detailed pics? _________________ Philipp |

if you start off using a canvas a few times bigger than the end result those little fuzzies and jaggies from the pen tool wont be visible and will actually look smooth.
and as andy said, do a search, takes a few minutes and will answer all your questions and give you a couple thousand more... |

sharp brushes, 25% opacity, no dodge and burn, larger starting canvas... and lots of free time and colour theory and you'll be on your way to better digital art... at least in my opinon... _________________ The elves, the EVIL sinister elves! darn them! |

hey phil
people gave you some good and useful advice already. one thing i want to add is: you don't need to blend with the ps paintbrush.
just use it, having two sets of hotkeys at hand:
the brush tip size changing ones and the numbers 1 to 0 to change opacity on the fly.
with opacity about 20-30%, you can work in glazes, continually brightening, darkening or whatevering the base color you're painting on.
for the beginning, i would use 100%, just to get my shaped and marks done and get rid of the white.
i recommend heading over to gfxartist.com and look up craig mullins' tutorials they have collected.
i also recommend reading a lot about color theory (already checked ron lemen's tutorial threads here?) and stuff, studying the old masters (artrenewal.org - sargent, velazques, frans hals, etc...) and a lot of practise.
for now, just stick to painting without blending. just try to communicate form with colors directly.
ye got my mail addy...
