That is disgustingly cute. It screams happiness. Damn fine job. The coloring is just so sharp that I could probably cut my self if I ran my fingers across it..

good job, sorry nothing constructive here.

Lovely pictuire =]
theres something about the way the light falls on her dress that bothers me .. cant really put my finger on it ... maybe its because you can see the shape of the leaves on her dress and some on the ground, but not on the trees ...
i dont know if i made much sense there , but nevermind.

also the highlights on the steps ... its as if theres this long gap in the tree-top where the light shines thru. mmmm no ? ...
LOL ..
nevermind ...
its a lovely picture all the same ..

and i went through your website ... very nice work Very Happy

Hey KatieO that's a nice painting. I like the sort of marker look to the colors. Or maybe I mean saturated.

Anyway, I also wanted to mention that I understand you are showing dappled light coming down through the trees and hitting the character and the ground. I think the face could be a little darker in value given the direction of the light. Also, the light areas on the ground could use some color other than white that you're adding.

Hm I will see if there are examples around.

edit:

Check out this image - there is direct daylight hitting the surfaces like in your picture, but the lit areas are getting their colors from the local color of the material, just in a brighter value.

I thought the picture would be about abuse when I read the title "Gonna be taking another trip 'down the stairs' tonight dear" Wink

glad to see otherwise. nice picture, there doesn't seem to be quite as much shadowing on the background as I would have expected, but its very happy and well done.

I think the trees need a bit of light falling on the trunks. You've got the rays of light coming down but nothing showing where they go.
Other wise nice nice. Wink

Took the words right out of my mouth. :p Great piece. Smile

About the lighting on her dress and on the stairs, I think the thing that's bothering me is the fact that, aside from Francis' comment, the light/shadow patterns seem much too sharp. Softening the edges should help, as at the moment there's no separation of umbra/penumbra.
