Not a bad version of Hale. - Looks like half way tween Hale and Brom - My crits - a few things seem like things to watch next time - there's sort of a halo around the character, espc. on the lower left side - and around the hair and wing - makes the picture look flat. Postion of the hand holding the wrench or whatever is pretty awkward, eyes seem too far apart, and the back wing is making a very odd tangent with the hair, looks like long hair and some kind of neck brace. The painting and color is excellent - but those small things take away from the larger effect. Is that traditional media? if so I get the reason for the halo - should work back to front if it's paint...
nice tho!

WOW - Thanks for the responses guys... I wasn't really going the way of Phil Hale but I can see how it ended up there... I think that the thing that I am most disappointed with is the awkward hand placement... I like the lower one but the higher is off...
As for the medium... this was just Photoshop, Airbrush set at 40%... so the excuse for the BG is really an attempt to allow the piece to look flat... I had a MUCH more dimensional background with tones of emerald and rust but it seemed like too much... with this, the background is flatter but the character is more defined. I wanted it to look painterlier as well...
The eyes were a conscious decision in order to make the face look unsettling but after the fact I can totally see your point... like it wasn't enough distortion to validate and is therefore just off.
marc_taro anyway, thanks a lot for the new eyes... thanks everyone else as well...
glody - I know where you live too!!! You better come home soon cause the super secret "place" needs you back... Bastards want a contest now
but where did they go? |

First: wow, and breathtaking
Second: you paint with a style like Imphead, did you know that, or am I the only one who think that? Has that something to do with "Imp 4.5"? |

Max - hey, thanks a lot... I actually began this as a tribute to Imp's Angel 9... I told Brian that it'd be 1/2 as good as his... that's where the 4.5 came from... It changed a lot and progressed because of him... Both he and Ken at ->poo<- were an awesome help... |

Awesome work! Yeah, it reminds me of Brom, also, but with a bit of dark humor. Anyway, its all your own and you should be proud of it. |

Hey Duality! I love that painting! The first thing that came to mind the moment I saw it was Gerald Brom ... I love his work too. An awesome fantasy artist. Keep up the great work! I wish I could paint like that. ![Crying or Very sad](images/smiles/icon_cry.gif) |
