Ok, So a friend of mine wants to have something I done as a print, and I was wondering, if I do the picture in 4000*4000 pixels, how big in cm could I print it then without it losing to much detail...And what DPI should I have? |

At 300dpi that would print out 33.87cm * 33.87cm
In photoshop goto image > adjust > image size. Your original image should be 4000*4000 pixels at 72dpi. Make sure you uncheck the 'resample image' checkbox at the bottom, then type 300 into the resolution box. Then you'll see how many cm's it is. If you want a quick visual reference to how big it will look goto view > print size. That will show you the image at about 25% zoom which is roughly how big it will print out for a 300dpi image.
Your image is pretty big by the sounds of it. Depends whether you want a poster or not. You could probably push the resolution down to 150dpi if you wanted for example a 67cm * 67cm print! any less than 150dpi and you'll see obvious flaws. Stick above 200dpi if you can. 300 is ideal though, and commercially the standard. |

an A4 page is 27.9x21cm, A3 is 42x29.7cm, so your 33x33cm image won't fit on anything standard, you'll have to look @ specialist printing.. |
