*Update* I took your suggestions into account, and altered parts of the pic: darkened the eagle so it should now appear more distant; added glows to the electricity on the hand and the holo-screen; added a light border to the image in the screen.
The idea behind this was to replace the sea with space. Instead of a girl relaxing holding a drink, a cyborg relaxing holding a gun
This is a new style for me, so I hope you like it.

I really like it.
The idea is nice, and the girl looks pretty.
But the hand bothers me. It looks bizarre right now, being half "naked" without the skin. It looks like it's done for showing she's a cyborg, but maybe a better idea would be to show circuits in her arms or something like that. The metal finger look a bit forced there, unnatural.
Just my opinion... _________________ "Ever forward, my darling wind." -Master Yuppa

looks good, some more color variation on the skin could be nice or perhaps it's supposed to look that way because it's artificial skin? The Top half of the image is pretty much just dead space i think it could probably be cropped out and no-one would really miss it. _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |

The girl and bird are excelent. Looks very robotic!!! However, along with other posters the star background is very bleak. Maybe add a planet, moon, or maybe a nebula. Otherwise you should remove it. _________________

I really love the pants.. they look fantastic.
my crit, I agree abotu the hand.. the middle finger should be the longest finger, and the stuff in between the fingers, I assume is electricity, doesnt look natural, there is alot going on in that area of the pic with the hair being close, and that part of the "ship" that is directly behind her hand and the other hand and gun in the area.. so much is going on that you loose that particular part.
honestly tho, its a fantastic piece. I love the way you've rendered her skin and clothes.. very nice. |

thanks for the comments guys ... eyalyab - there isn't actually an original photo, i just imagined it. i thought, what would the sci-fi equivalent of a girl on holiday be? Though I did use refs for the eagle and the headscarf/hair arrangement.
Ragnarok, good point. i wanted to do something like in that scene in terminator 2 when arnie rips his hand off. i wasn't entirely happy with the way the metal linked with the flesh though.
Capt. Fred, thanks mate - that put a grin on my face
Novacaptain, yeah the colour of the skin was intentional - i didn't want her to look too human. actually, i wanted the viewer to find her appealing at first, but then be slightly thrown by her empty expression/coldness. does that make sense?.. about the top half, well i made this for a print on A4 paper for my portfolio, and i'm gonna add some kind of logo to the top.
Thanks Al Ian - as i said above, i didn't want the eye to be drawn to the background too much. but i see your point, and to be honest the stars were slightly rushed.
Awetopsy, i'm glad you liked it. the middle finger is bent, which is why it appears shorter. |

Wow this is cool! Did you do all of it in Photoshop, or did you scan some line art?
Great stuff, more please. _________________ Francis Tsai

Thanks Francis! Yeah i scanned pencils in but they're gone in the finished pic. I'll be posting more as soon as i've finished a comic sample i'm doing, in a similar (though probably looser) style.
by the way, i clicked on your site, and you've got some really nice stuff there ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Bad ass gezstar, bad ass. The only thing I don't find appealing is the transition from skin to metal in her hand. Other than that it's beautiful and I love the subtle shading! |

Damn this is a fine painting and a fine subject. The girl is so fine in this picture that I hardly noticed the bird. tsk tsk a shame..
The bird deserves it's own attention. It's extremely well done. Good job, you must be proud of this one. _________________ - b

In my own rational I would expect the electricity jumping between her fingers to give off a blue light that would be picked up on her skin, but that's just me. Awesome job on the pic though! |

Very nice man. You're improving at an exponential rate.
Her breasts look great, very natural. Any crits I may have had have been covered. So all that's left to say is......
Keep up the good work dude, you're well on your way.
Take it easy,

Well I don't really like that space-scene surrounding but I really dig that Carmen Electra kinda girl. Very well done! Just a lill' question: don't you think that area of her left arm where the underarm is connected with the hand is just a tad too narrow? And maybe that bulge (the edge) she has there is drawn a little bit too sharp? If you just made it a lill bit more round instead of that sharp edge, you know... OK that's just nitpicking, you may ignore that as well. _________________

Cheers for the comments guys. pritch, i'm with you on the hand... but at a certain point you just have to say 'f*ck it i'll do better next time'
Bare Bonez, glad you liked the bird - i mean the girl... where i'm from, bird is slang for girl, hehehe. it's not derogatory though
faeklone, yep the light should be blue, but i went for a turquoise/white for the colour scheme i had going. thanks for the comments!
Hi Malachi thanks for the encouragement - to have a picture of a girl praised by you must be good news so it's very appreciated, thanks man.
Kitamard - thanks man!
Hi Flat. glad you liked the girl. with her hand do you mean her wrist? to be honest, her wrist looks alright to me, but i do agree with you about the bone there - it is a bit sharp... Thanks for teh comments!!11
Size, thanks but don't say that man! trust me once you're in these forums, improvement is just a matter of time. i've still got a long ways to go too.
thanks again guys,
Gez |
