Ugh, been picking away at this one off and on for the better part of the last few months. Was just supposed to be a quick painting, I swear ^_^. Anyway, finally finished, or almost, just noticed a few spots that don't quite blend as smooth as I'd like, and I'm not quite happy with the sand yet (any idea's on how to fix that?)
But here it is, hosting courtesy of a friend from IRC, Addalot
C&C obviously welcomed. _________________

Chthonic Divinity is right; she looks way too frigid on that pic. What about removing her clothes?
BTW fix that horizont, man -- it screws up the whole perspective. _________________

ok updated. The second lightsource on the face was getting no end of questioning on another forum, so dimmed it way down.
At flats suggestion, tried to fix the horizon, hopefully succeded in that.
And, well, lets just hope if the reviewers a girl, she digs chicks ^_~* _________________

The hyper-realistic butt compared to the background is... odd. If this is for a college application, don't you think it's worth the little bit of time it would take to make a less child's-drawing-type background?
Very nice hair, though. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Yeah, I would like to work on the background, and if I get a chance to, I will honestly, but I've had a ton of stuff going on, and am moving across the continent to live with my new Fiance, I am trying to get this, and another picture pritned while I'm still here, where I know a good printer, both the other needs a bg put in as well, not my strong point as of yet to say the least. And I leave.... wednesday morning, so have about 6 more hours tops to work on both. I will try and get some time to fix them when I'm out there and get my computer set up again, my portfolio isn't _DUE_ till the end of februrary, though as an International student, I'm trying to get it in at the begining of the month. Time willing, and finding a printshop, they'll be fixed. Right now I just want them _in_ my portfolio.
Even with the amateurish background in comparison, this is still one of the stronger pieces in my portfolio to get in. I'm not too worried, seeing as it's a smaller college to start, I will be transfering to, most likely, the University of British Colombia my 3rd year to finish my degree. _________________

Boy, do I hear ya!
Besides, I think it's more important to get good art in your portfolio than work forever on one piece seeking perfection and never getting a portfolio together at all.
Lots of good luck towards ya. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

looks marvellous!
But I think there's something wrong with her breast...looks like it is attached at the side of the chest somehow, like the latissimus would flow directly into her breast. I maybe wrong, but just in case... |

Its a very good rendering of the figure, even if the composition is somewhat lacking in the background. I don't think it is a problem that she's a hottie in a bikini though the choice of pose is less artistic than it is like a "beer commerical."
For that matter, what was the reference material for this? Is this from a photograph you took or is it from imagination? If its from a magazine photograph or something like that, I think that may be a strike against you -- at least that is what I remember from reading the opinions of art teachers about art school portfolio submissions. They would rather have you be the creator of the composition, not someone else. |
