Both of these are about 75% complete, and rough around the edges.
"Stride (rev. J)" 4.2 MB
A band of malfunctioning robots gathers for an impromptu jazz jam session.
"The Crux (rev. J)" 3.0MB
Planet-hopping for leisure. Some of the transitions in this one are just ghastly. Apologies in advance.
I think the funky sound of this new EP (compared to my first one) is a reaction to my living in one of the least funky towns on Earth. I've also been listening to a lot of ghetto/booty tech lately, which is starting to show up in my basslines.
Thanks for listening. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

I heard it! I LOVE THE CRUX!
It sounds so disco.. You should make that CLAP louder! Some female vocal might make it even funkier. Maybe you could sing and put the pitch really high up or something heheh.
Hey i like it so much, i might want to remix it even
I hope i get more free time off work.. bah.
Check this, at work after everything is done i have like 4 hours free. I could do music but here are the downsides: 1) i'm at a room filled with computers and printers = loud noise, 2) at the end of my 10 hour shift i get a headache and feel uninspired to do anything. 3) you have to uninstall any programs off our computers when you leave, so i'd have to install FL and plugins every time dammit. |

When I finish it, I could send you a CD of all the separate elements ripped out into tracks (bass, drums, lead, etc) if you want. E-mail me your postal mailing address and I'll hook you up. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Pretty cool. I think you would love some of the classic Yellow Magic Orchestra stuff if you've never heard any. They are THE pioneer from the 70's/80's of the style that you work in. |

Luna: That must be the "YMO" that gets mentioned from time to time on the Detroit techno mailing list. I'll have to look some up. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Yep, YMO it is. The famous musician's musician, Ryuichi Sakamoto, was one of the three members.
Bands like Japan, and the frontman David Sylvian, are directly spawned from YMO's influence.
And of course, tons of other synthpop/industrial/techno/house bands pay heavy tribute to YMO and Sakamoto. |

Heruuks!
Actually i wanted to say about that Crux song, the real high notes don't really fit in it i don't think.. At 45 second. Also it's hard to realize how many parts it has. Like generally you could have 2 main parts, but here its like 5 or 6 hehe. But maybe thats what you want.
And the remix thing, why CD? Just send me up some mp3s and ill cut em up.
PS: Yellow Magic Orchestra,... ehehh poo
[edit]
Tight-oon-up will give me nightmares
I'll use Computer Games to cut out drum beats though hehehe.. evil bum. |

Dude, Tighten Up is one of the funniest covers songs ever made! YMO had a sense of humor! |

Hey shizzy, sorry I haven't put up any samples yet. Here's a rough groove I did the other night though:

Good. You should name it "Monkeys drink acid" or something hehe.
Actually i thought the "inverted drums" sound a bit awkward especially in the beginning.
Like it goes: snare, snare, kick
and i'd like: kick, kick, snare or whateva.. Hmm maybe they're both kicks though, I DONT KNOW!!!!
The synth sounds are cool though. |

sounds a bit like Les Rythmes Digital to me... but I wouldn't know =)
I was expecting it to gain a bit of momentum though, but the main synth riff just kept it feeling like you're trudging through mud when in fact you could be skipping along...
I did however listen with severely crappy speakers and don't know much about music making _________________ Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari? |
