I have been working for the last year or so on my portfolio since i decided to go to Art school. My Father is friends with a Nationally (or at least Western Canada) known artist by the Name of Gisepi Albi. When my father told him that I was thinking of going to art school he volunteered his help. So I invited him over the other day to look upon my work. Granted it was no gallery showing because of the limited space in a basement. He look and gave me some of the most honest words of wisdom that I have ever received about my work. It was so refreshing. It is funny how people that are close to you say what they like, but ultimately don't have a lick about what they are talking about. He made me face some realities about my work. And at the same time, gave me some god sent confidence in that I was accomplishing something. He picked out older work from newer work and pointed out the improvements. He has made me realize how much more I have to think about my work as a whole.
Thanks for reading/listening it was just so enlightening and emotional for me personally. It is like I have had an epiphany. |
