Right now i dont feel anything about anything. I feel... empty. Empty like an empty bottle of vodka which used to be full and sparkly with its gay contents.

I'll write about rapping in Icelandic!
Islandsk Radio "Kaliber" let me know that it's very hard to rap in Icelandic. Not only it is a hard language to "freestyle" but they also don't have poverty, ghettos, or unemployment. There is nothing to be rapping about. So the new wave of Islandsk og Finsk rap was pretty much about stuff that they made up, it was fake.

Today i drove home like crazy, i don't know why i did that. I think it's silly to drive like crazy.
I enjoy writing like Moby, you can never make sense out of this gibberish, it's all good.

Bye, i'ma go cut up some drum samples.
PS: I think it's cooler and cheaper to cut out samples than buying a sample CD because they always come out unique and crappy.. crappy sound is the best. I think Hamster doesn't respect me because i'm using FruityLoops, but he shouldn't be judgemental.
Oh , i'll also come back here in a short while to see what kind of response i get. It can be good.

Yup, the Icelandic language is hard, although not as hard as some people think but what can I say, I am biased.

Icelandic music is disgusting for most part. Many of the Icelandic bands are chocos wearing the latest trends who create elitist surroundings for themselves to thrive in.

Some Icelandic Rap bands actually create lyrics who aren't about fake gang things. They sing about the fucked up elitist political system which is disgusting to say the least. The Icelandic community is actually saturated with individual desire to belong to a certain elitist community, whether it's on the political, music, art or theatre scene.

We have poverty but it's cheap and almost free to educate one self here in Iceland so those who complain about not getting good jobs are actually people who have watched too many American movies where the message is "You are the chosen one" or "Your golden opportunity is around the next corner". The worst cases of poverty are because of the high tax system. Sales tax is around 24.5% which I remember to be substantially higher than in most places. The government takes 40% off our taxes for every krona(icelandic currency) that surpasses 70.000 kronur so if you have 100.000 a month in salary they would take 40% off your 30.000(100.000-70.000). This is actually quite bad since rent is around 40.000-80.000 kronur(1.000 kronur for each squaremeter) leaving you 30.000 for food. Chicken costs around 1.190 kronur(13 dollars) and a bic mac value meal is around 10 dollars. and of all that we buy we are charged by that sales tax which is 24.5%.

Then we have to pay taxes for things we own and even people who are on retirement wages must pay taxes off their retirement money.

In the second world war we actually had ghettoes which were originally created to house British soldiers. After they left(along with a lot of icelandic women Smile ) they were sold to poor families. There is even a very good movie about this ghetto community called Djoflaeyjan(The DevilIsland) http://us.imdb.com/Title?0116116

Unemployment is something that has been rising but mostly it is because of youngsters who refuse low paying job which are then offered to uneducated Asian or Polish immigrants. This has created a certain tension between racist natives and the immigrants. Like before these kids can blame themselves as they are too lazy to educate themselves.

Rapping and singing in Icelandic is hard altogether as our language is very hard in pronunciation. Unlike english we have pre-aspirated K, T and P. The stress is always on the first syllable. Take for example one word which is similar in Icelandic and English. Banana(english) Banani(Icelandic)
in english the Syllable Stress would be like this -baNAna- unlike Icelandic where the stress would be -BAnani-

It's also very hard to get words to rhyme. In English you could say, "Bee, be, sea, tea, MCG" giving the english user several " sound formations" to use. While Icelandic it would have to be "Sltur, Ktur, Pjtur". As you can see the ending must be exactly same as we have no two vowel words like oe in shoe and toe. If these words were read in Icelandic the O and E would be seperate and both words would have the same vowel sound.

And although the place was named Iceland it's far from being that icy. Some have even suggested that Greenland and Iceland should swap names, but conservative individuals have ridiculed this idea(why change a name when you already got the cool(iceland, cool made a funny, kill me now) one).

I hope this was an entertaining and informing post. Sadly I think I am the only Icelandic person to surf these boards, even though I have tried to get some really talented artists to check it out.

I liked that post Svanur.
About taxes, well, they pay off. Having free education and health care system is good. Here in Spain we have medium taxes and good public education and health care system. Although the percentage taken of a salary is not fixed. If you earn like 500 euros, it takes a percentage much smaller than if you earn 1000. The maximun is 56% to those who earn around 90000 euros a year, I think.

And about rap, there is actually lots of rap and hip hop here in Spain. And it's quite good, even though it relies mostly on lyrics.

[Shizo]: It's a very short piece so I ain't completely sure who it was. I believe the second song is from a group called XXX Rottweiler hundar(hundar=Dogs). They are probably the most famous rap group in Iceland, except for Quarashi. The leader of the group among with some of his friends were sued for throwing a molotov cocktail at the US embassy here in Iceland(stupid drunks).

The first song is possibly from a rapper called Mri. He is a rapper that let's no one take photographs of him. He sings of the Icelandic ghettoes and gangsters.

Ragnarok: I agree, this kind of system is actually very good but the government itself is too inefficient to use the money wisely. The worst thing is probably the monopoly on the market. There is one corporation(baugur) which owns probably around 75% of everything.

About the Icelandic gangsta scene.
There is actually no gangsters but we have problems with drug dealers. The collectors have begun getting too eager and are drilling the kneecaps of those who don't pay. The funny part is that not all drug dealers have these collectors. Some dealers are actually using teenagers who are around 15-16. There was one time when 4 youngsters visited some guy to tell him that his daughter owed their dealer some money and they said that they would beat him up if he wouldn't pay up. He picked these kids up and threw them away like paper.

Because Icelandi is such a small country(280.000 people in all, 120.000 in the capital, Reykjavik) it isn't very profitable to be part of crime. Once you do something, everybody will know of it making it impossible for anybody to trust you.

Hey man, i haven't found the songs i was looking for.. I especially liked the one by XXX Rottweiler Dogs. I don't agree with them acting ghetto and throwing beer into embassy, but i just REALLY like that one song! Smile
I'll be looking for it though.

Hey, tell us something more about Iceland. Only 120.000 people in the capital?! That must be great. No pollution, no crime, no poverty.. What a great country!

I'll try to find time to make a comprehensive(or as close as I can get to it) description of Iceland and culture.

The biggest question mark nowadays in Iceland is whether to join the European Union. Most are afraid that we will lose our 200+ mile jurisdiction around our country in the process, but this jurisdiction is vital to our survival as we live on selling the fish from the ocean there.

Here are some nice landscape pictures I found. More are on the webpage you can see on the watermark.

The church most tourists go to. It isn't very big although it's probably the largest highest building in Iceland.

This is a very bad picture but it shows roughly how we celebrate the New Year. Everybody buys all kinds of junk to shoot into the air. Some people spend around 100 dollars but those who are insane spend up to 700 dollars for stuff.

This is a lot to download so sorry about that.
