Looking at the amazing artwork at: http://www.gfxartist.com/community/elite_gallery
made me want to try my hand at some realistic cg.
(that and the fact that I finally discovered the "Fade" feature in photoshop.. now I can fake like I have a tablet!)
I didn't use any photo references... hence the artificial looking position and shading, sigh...
Any tips for making her look more realistic, be they proportion, position, or shading, are welcome.
Also, I could use some advice on the background... I have no idea what to put on the dark side of the yin yang symbol. I want the white side... her wing... to look like it is part of a wall behind her... like painted or carved on but I'm not sure. Then again, maybe it's weird to just have a carving of a disembodied wing on the wall. Suggestions, anyone?
wanna see a more detailed version? |

i like the wing idea, maybe you should make it transition from real wing on her back to carved stone wing part of the background. i would suggest placing the base of the wing higher up on her back near where her shoulder blades should be. right now it kind looks like its coming out of her lower spine.
also get a little more aggressive with your lighting and shadow, dont be afraid to lay into the darker tones. _________________ if its not grape flavored pop i dont want it! |
