Well, I live in a major city, so there are always plenty of buildings I could think up to fill an empty space or lot. I find looking at designs for existing buildings to be very helpful. Maybe you should try drawing the buildings around you, houses, apartment buildings, skyscrapers, and see where that takes you. Maybe watch a few choice movies, or read a few books on architectural history. I find the architectural books about new york city to be the most interesting around.

By the way, I'm planning to become an architectural engineer and I've been told over and over again that to some extent, drafting is very pivotal to the job. So I'm working on that. I'm curious as to how this pans out for you so please, share when you find out what works for you, ok?

I found some good exercises in book called Architectural Drawings A Visual Compendium of types and Methods. It is huge book, around 700 pages, it is fully devoted to theory + filled with examples + actual examples done by students + exercises (two levels)
