If your to paint something in photoshop using a photo ref i just wanna know what is more common, having the line art done or just blotching in shapes and shadows using only color? please help i wanna get better so if you dog the hell out of this question but still give an answer i would appreciate it. thx _________________ Say would you like a chocolate covered pretzel? |

I don't try to get the line art done any more. Maybe if you are just starting out it makes sense to trace some photos first to become more adept in using photoshop (and for better results for motivation ).
Also play a little with the color picking tool. You'll want to be able to choose the colors without that tool later. Try not to use the dodge&burn tool if possible.

I just saw some of the pictures you posted ... great stuff / good perspective.
