Yeah, someone on here apparently uses my name...but not like that matters, cuz they probably participate a lot more than I do hehheh.
Anyways, I have a few good friends who go on here and told me that a lot of you do your own music and I'd love to get some feedback on this one.
I haven't done any work in a studio in a while, so Ive just been messin' around with fruityloops, and this is what I've done so far.

It's named "Remixing" because my old computer crashed, and I had to re-do some of the samples for the song.
Aw well, thanks for listening. Can't wait to see some responses! _________________ Almost every man wastes part of his life in attempts to display qualities which he does not possess, and to gain applause which he cannot keep. |

well, it's kinda repetitive, and gets boring after the first minute. i'd suggest some more work on the lead melody, more variation, and some more work on the drum structure and transitions.
you should try to make the song grow from beginning to end, in a way to make it interesting, not giving away too much from the start.
to sum up,
more variation to both bassline, drums and melodies.
maybe some more defining transitions from part to part, for example with rolls or crash cymbals... and why not make the basedrum more interesting instead of making it go 4/4 all the way... well, it doesn't, but almost
here's an example of a beat transition, with a more varied basedrum beat: http://deesine.blackcrypt.com/res/pub/beat.mp3
hope it helps ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Thanks for the advice.
I've been noticing that with a lot of my older work too, and I guess its just natural to notice your flaws and grow. But, I didn't wanna put this track aside and just have the drive to finish it.
My newer material that I'm working on I'm very conscious of that particular fact...dynamic beats...not emptying all my ideas in the first quarter of the song, and then repeating it the rest of the way....etc.
-
When I start something new...I just hvae so many ideas for it, that I'll be too excited, and will just put them all in right away. A bad habit that I'm overcoming.
Thanks again,

I know what you mean...
One thought though, is to work backwards, if you create something of all your idas, you can then pick it apart and make a beginning to the end, so to speak. but chances are you'll get bored of it, happens to me all the time.
best of luck with your future tunes ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
