I was recently introduced to Chrono Trigger, and I decided to draw my favorite character, Marle.
She's supposed to be using her ice magic, so I'm trying to create the effect of wind kind of blowing toward her and up. It's hard to get a good dynamic pose. This is the sprite of her doing magic in-game.
Comments and criticism would be grately appreciated. |

Nice lineart. I think you did a very good job with the 'windyness' of it. I like the detailing. |

ooo, chrono trigger, had to check this one out. she doesn't have her crossbow, but I guess you were doing her casting ice sword or something.
the pants seem a little weird, hard to say why exactly but they look a little veiny or something. looks like her though, so you did a pretty good job. I'm just picky about the game ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I touched up a lot of stuff -- mostly the pants. Any ideas on what I should have her attacking? I might have to go play the game again and get some ideas.
Also, any more suggestions on what needs to be fixed? |

I know it may be the style, but your pic give us the feeling that her hair is painted on her head... Try to break the line, about the ...(f*ck, i dunno how to say "meche" in english... my dictionnary... wait wait... ) "hair lock" ? i think it's the word... you see what I mean ? _________________ drawing, sk8in... i'm really a deviant... |

yup, the pants are better. you might not be able to get them perfect without coloring it though. looks like you also thickened the lines in some areas.
i think her arms look a little too beefy for marle, she had very skinny arms in the game. i believe Ichabod15 is saying you need to make her hair flow a little more naturally, maybe seperate the ponytail a bit.
As for the spell, basically anything involving ice should be good ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Updated again -- made the arms thinner and the bangs a little more dynamic. |

Ahh, much better, her arms look perfect now. took me a moment to notice her hair, but it does look considerably more dynamic now. Now you just need to color it and do the spell effect ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

this might be a little late...
anyways, the pants - theres gravity too, so basically, there are two pull lines, one down and one away from her. one thing ive noticed - one of the folds seem to be at a right angle, like its being pulled by a hand or hook.
im not great at folds, theres a tut by julie dillion on folds - http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/tutorial/clothingmain.html
the hair should be a bit thicker around the head - unless the hairs gel-ed. Sumthing like a blanket thing.
btw, ure improving - keep practicing. im no big deal in the art scene, but ive had my experiece - and still goin through. |
