I racked

Much to my wife's dismay I bought myself a new mountain bike - a Trek 6700 HardTail. I am still getting grief over it. My mother-in-law (a fantastic woman) gave me a 100 ounce Camel Back hydration pack to go with my new bike.

DVDs:
LOTR, Fellowship...Extended Version, Band of Brothers

A pasta press and Italian cookbook (tested out a fritatta recipe last night - shazam)

An automatic gravy dispenser, fur sink, electric dog polisher, and a gasoline powered turtleneck sweater.

XBox 4 game bundle

Das Boot Director's Cut

Icewind Dale Trilogy

Sun Tzu's Art of War

The Book of the Dead

System of a Down - Steal this album

Kingdom Hearts ps 2

Obi Wan figurine

a ticket for the premiere of The Two Towers in a screen room with lazyboys and beer.

Maybe I am spoiled, on the other hand Christmas here is a lot different from the American one.

"The Complete BlackAdder", 4 DVD boxset. Enough British-style sarcasm to keep one entertained for about 12 hours.

Morrowind: Tribunal Expansion.

Tom - You lucky bum! Band of Brothers DVD Box set?!?!? It costs like 100 bucks! Man o man. I've been buying DVDs slowly for my collection, despite not having a DVD player for the TV, I have to watch everything on my 15" crt monitor, which isnt bad if I can have the sound a little louder (if no one is home), but generally isn't too impressive. I want to get that sooner or later, maybe when i have some spare cash.

What I got for x-mas:

Socks - What?!?!? Where's the underwear? (Naturally from my mom)

Capo - For my acoustic guitar, which I recently took up, my sister gave it to me. Great gift, love it.

Swiss Army Knife Key Chain - Has about 4~7 tools on it, mom gave it to me, love it also.

$100 - From my dad, he gives me money every year, I think it's just really hard for him to find me a gift that I would really enjoy, so I don't mind despite some people saying how money is so impersonal for gifts. But I can relate, considering I had such a hard time finding a gift for my parents.

$250 - from my mom, but it must be used to pay for the instructor's course I am going to take for snowboarding at a local ski hill. This is big for me since I am going to move out to BC soon for University (crossing fingers), and it'll help me find a potential job if the need comes, plus it's one of my favourite passtimes.

________ - From my brother. Nothing yet.... He said he was gonna buy me some snowboarding gloves, but he decided not to since it would be stupid if he bought me gloves in japan, sent them here (to canada), and if they didnt fit me, they'd be useless). So he hasnt boughten me anything yet, which I dont mind. I'm not the biggest x-mas celebrator anyways.

In general, I dont mind getting any presents at all, I find that x-mas is totally commercialized, and it makes people think that it should be a time where you ask for really expensive (or more-so than usual) gifts that you wouldnt usually endulge yourself with. I was watching the news a while back, and even the Pope thinks that everyone is losing their sense in what Christmas is really celebrated for, unfortunately, I dont even know......
Something to do with Jesus (lol), sorry, I'm not the most religious person (well...... not religious at all...). But I do know that Jesus' birthday isn't really Dec. 25, but it's technically sometime in January.
Blah, religion..... I don't have one, I respect other's religions and their beliefs, just don't push it onto me. And yes, Aetheism is a religion in itself.

Just my 2 cents.

The most notable gift is the Sonicare electric toothbrush. Exactly what I asked Santa not to bring. It will vibrate my jaw out of its alignment.

Lessee...I got:

The Heather Thane by Garry Allen (limited edition - signed 46/50 (great job on the cover, Socar!))
a new portable CD player
a shirt (no socks, no underwear)
some chocolate-covered cherries
Rage Against the Machine - The Battle of Las Angeles
somethingorother by Todd Schneider (probably spelling his name wrong)
a traditional Chinese calligraphy set
a cute little box from Purdy's
a leather bookmark (aunt bought it in England)
a chess set (who do I know that actually plays chess besides myself??)
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (TR4)

(the last one was an early gift)

Didn't get much this year, though quality is always better than quantity Smile.

Canon PowerShot G3
Palm IIIc (Hand me down, the previous owner upgraded to a m515)
$50 Tower Records Gift Card

All in all I'm happy Very Happy... now if only I could get the chance to sift through this manual.

Oh, and Kwanzaa's not a holiday, it's just a statement against "the exploitation of the African-American's during the Christmas season". Which makes it weird to see people go around saying "Happy Kwanzaa" or what-not. Such a st00pid holiday now since companies like Hallmark are exploiting it Smile... and even st00pider (yes, it's my word and YOU can't have it) people celebrate it.

too bad my aunt didn't realize that I REALLY wanted the sort of chess set that you DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES play. The sort that's used to fill a flat spot in your house with maybe one or two pieces moved. Unfortunately, those sorts cost upward of $300, and she's cheap.

Bah. Everyone has one of those, Rat. They're boring and pretentious. Why not enjoy a chess set that you can beat up.. one with which you can actually have some fun? Heh.

A book on Surrealism
a book on Dali. (I guess they couldn't find Max Ernst)
A book on Redon (bought that together with my wife with the combined money we got from grandma..second hand it was still 80 bucks..isn't that ridiculous?)
A soft cotton embroidered night shirt from my wife. It looks like its a medieval piece or something..very cool.
A kaleidoscope.
Two books on vegetarian cooking.

About 20 pounds of fruit from my mom. My wife and I both had the flu over christmas. So my mom came over and dropped off enough fruit to kill a horse. And I had already picked up an equal amount the day before when I felt it coming.

Most of this was not for christmas but for Sinterklaas btw. Dutch people have their own holiday on december 5th. So we celebrate that with my family and for christmas my wife and I buy each other some presents and we unwrap the goodies that her family sent us from the US.

- - - - - -

Tom ..I checked out the bike...it's sweet. Just show your wife that exercise improves virility and she will be ok with it Smile
