Very nice cat. I'm wondering however, why you cut off the cat at its lower legs. I might actually rethink the composition you chose. The big wall space on the right side makes me feel anxious. I don't know why. I would've liked it if the cat was closer to the right hand side, its legs/lower body showing and perhaps its tail curling toward its head. In other words, the composition would improve if it followed the rules pertaining to the "golden mean".
The medium is oils? I was tricked! I thought it was acylics. Whenever Sargent painted, he would instruct his pupils to infuse the subject with emotion. Depict this in the brush strokes ....thicker in the lighter areas and darker in the shadows. Punch up the colours. Add drama! Oils is the only medium that when applied convincingly can look absolutely lucious.
Give the colours more depth to get a more convincing 3d look. Play with the volumes / basic shapes that make up the cat. I like what you've done to the fur. I feel like I can almost squeeze it with my hands!
By the way, this question was asked of me before so i will ask you. What kind of comments did were you hoping for? Did you have a particular question? _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave
