I've been on this forum for a couple of days now. Read a lot of interesting things and seen a lot of nice work. But my problem is a simple yet a hard one.... Where to start.
Im a student in Multimedia Design and as much as i can make flashy flash animations, cool homepages and come up with a 1001 ideas to sell you something .... ... .. . I can't draw. Neither with a pencil or with things like photoshop. And i have seen a lot of tutorials and no matter how good they are, they are very specific.
Now im not asking for a well worked out course (I wish ) But maybe some pointers on where and how to start. on both ways.
Thanks in advance,
Paul |

Buy a sketch book and just draw anything you see botles, plates, shoes, glasses etc. It really doesn't make a damm bit of difference what the best way to start and the best way of learning it the really important thing is to just start doing something. Sketch books are you friends. Buy a sketch book a shit load of 2b pencils and go for it or why wait find some scrap paper a pencil and draw something now . We are all obsesed with reading book on technique finding what the best way to learn is etc. If I spent half the time drawing I spent reading shitty instructional books on how to draw I might be an amasing artist. Once you have starting drawing it will become aparent to you what you strengths and weeknesses are BUT THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AND GET ON WITH THE DOING IT. |

rock on lionel! you are so right though..i myself have been tryin to read books on drawing the figure, or reading books on texturing, when in actuality, i should be just drawing with a sketch pad! i've gotten so discouraged though because i freeze up when i try to draw from my head, i simply can't do it, and its killing me! |
