I've been rather unproductive lately but here's one that i did manage to do after some recieving incentivating pep talk. Comments and critiques welcome.
oh this tank is for sale by the way (http://www.tanksforsale.co.uk) the reference photo is in the T55 gallery ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |

That's quite good, Daniel. I'm not crazy about the texture on the flank, on the bit that covers the tracks . . . seems a little mushy and aimless. Otherwise very cool. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

I think it looks terrific. The lid (?) and a bit of the flank do stand out as being a little under done, but they aren't blatantly obvious to my eye. _________________ -=-=-=-

I like tanks. I think it's pretty good. You should know that you've drawn it driving backwards though. The turret is facing the back on this particular pic. |

Thanks Brian. I wanted it to look gritty and worn out. I'm not too sure how i am to achieve it though, higher contrast? larger scale on the texture? I'll experiment.
Thanks Eric, I might work a little more on it but i don't want Ian Jones to come here and tell me i've got my image over-rendered again.
Bhop73 - Really? How do you figure that? I just supposed the reference was picturing the tank facing right with the turret to the front. I could make it drive forward and aim to the rear too...that'd be interesting. Thank you. _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |

Novacaptain: Really nice work!
Something about the turret seems odd. Might be that the highlight on the rounded surface is not as bright as the highlights on the upper section.
Anyway, great pic. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

UPDATE! (double update since i read ceendas reply just as i was going to post and worked on the illumination on the turret a little bit)
Thanks Frosty, that truly makes me happy to hear. I wish you'd get around to painting more often.
Thank you ceenda! Good call on the turret also ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |

Excellent! My only crit would be to loose the detail of the smoldering hole in the ground. My brain sees some kind of detail there and wants to put the tank and the hole at the same distance or something. _________________ - Gimbal

Yeah, I've been "into" tanks for years, and used to build a lot of military models. That space between the wheels is in the front on the T-55 (back on the T-62), which is the easiest way to tell. The drive sprocket is on the back on most(if not all) Soviet tanks too. I don't think it's that big of a deal, although, tanks do drive with the turrents backwards sometimes, usually to get up a steep incline without the gun digging into the dirt, I think if you moved the thrown dirt to the back of the tank it'd be more accurate, although, it seems like i'm the only person that noticed.. heh, heh ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |
