When I first bought a Hewlett Packard CD burner when they were just emerging out into the public market, I was thoroughly convinced that HP was just a shammy company. The burner had made me mad. But after years of avoiding stuff from them, I ended up buying the HP DeskJet 670C, and also a ScanJet 4300C. I"ve had the printer for about 3 years now, and the scanner for about a year, a year and a half (I think), and I must say, they are good products (i wouldnt know how to classify them as great products since I do not get to use different products in the same class). As far as the scanner goes, I'm not sure if this 4300C is newer or older than the one you're going to buy, but it seems that the product number itself says that yours might be older? I dunno. Now, I'm not sure to what extent you're going to use the scanner, but for general everyday picture scanning for webpages, emails etc, it works fine. For a digital artist's profile, I would not know. The only problem I have with the scanner is that I do not know how to use it effectively. For example, when I scan a regular 4x6 picture at 100dpi, it tends to be large in size, about 140kb. But maybe its just my lack of knowledge in scanners.
I'm sorry if this post was more cumbersome and interrogative than informative. I tried my best to express what I think, which would be that HP are making good products for the general user.
BTW, would anyone have any links to pages that would have a scanner tutorial for artistic purposes and such? I would be very much interested. _________________ Just remember, when in doubt, even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. |
