Dimension films just released (I shouldn't even call it that since it's only in 300 screens and bairly anybody even knows about it) an action film on December 6th called Equilibrium, it's roughly a cross between 1984/A Brave New World/The Matrix.

I don't know about you, but I haven't seen action at this level since the Matrix and it doesn't even involve wire-fu. All the action scenes are choreographed around a martial art where you use guns as an extension of yourself or something. All I gotta say is when these scenes are up their on the big screen it's kinda hard to compose yourself, the stuff is original amazing and doesn't involve bullet time or wires.

Well It's kinda late at night/early in the morning (6:35am last I checked) so if anyone doubts the utter coolness of this flick here's a link to the trailer that for some reason you have to actually LOOK for to find.

http://www.kaneda.freeserve.co.uk/trailers.html
(Just look for Equilibrium on that page, I'd post a direct link but it's long as hell, and long links seem to make a mess of spacing on this forum)

I haven't seen it, I've heard a lot of good buzz about it tho.

Wouldn't that always be the case, lol... I found the trailer monday after digging through some links and that just so happens to be the same day apple.com posts it... Either way posting the first trailer on Dec. 2nd when it's getting released Dec. 6th is kind of an undersell. I've already seen trailers for multiple movies coming out next year, and my goodness I saw a two tower trailers in March when they showed them at the end of the Fellowship.

Not really much originality in the story; you'll have it totally figurewd out by the first 5 minutes really, but this movie is carried by VERY clever and stylish direction by Kurt Wimmer, his debut feature. I look very much forward to seeing more movies by this guy. I would definitely recommend seeing this. George Orwell is spinning in his grave, but i was certainly entertained.

Yeah that's awful depressing to say the least, I don't know how a movie like this is on 300 screens in the country... yet flicks like Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie is everywhere... It hurts, it really does Sad.

What's worse is how little publicity it's gotten in general, I hadn't even heard of it before December 2nd.

[Edit: Actually I do know why it's being undersold, after reading some more stuff up on it... apparently it was made on a budget of $20 Million. My goodness, you can't get Tom Hanks into a movie before ponying up $20 Million. Which makes me even more impressed with the final product]

Smile I liked Equilibrium. I had originally planned on seeing 8 Crazy Nights, but some friends had coaxed me into getting tickets to Equilibrium instead. I gotta admit I was pretty impressed with the fact that it was an action movie that not only had a story and plot, but managed to keep you on task with the story of the movie no matter how distracting the action scenes were. The "Gun fu" that they called something else, I won't name to spoil it for people, was probably the most interesting gimmick of the movie.

The only thing disappointing about this movie is the poor amount of promotion it's receiving from the company putting it out. But then again I don't blame the company that's doing it. This movie is one of those under noticed flicks that become a cult fave. So I'd go and see it if it's in a theatre near you, check my pocket for some extra cash and just go and have some visual stimulation for two or so hours.
