Finally, I finished all those $50 pet portraits from the sale I had in May. This is the last one, and the third in a series of whippets I did for one customer. These are the first two, for those who didn't see them:

Now, this is the last one:

I had lots of trouble with this picture...not because it was a hard subject, but because of bad health. I kept having to stop and start with it, and I kept messing up and changing my mind...I think maybe the composition is a bit more forced than usual as a result. It took about three weeks from sketch to finish, which is about two and a half weeks longer than something like this would normally take me. BUT, I am fairly pleased with it anyway...I think it goes with the other two quite nicely.

Wow! Great pieces, I really love your color palette, the colors are always so warm and rich! Do you take your own reference shots for the animals? Or do you use stock footage? Great work as always!

Hello
As always with your pictures there is totally magic in the colors.
I was noticing one thing about the dogs right back leg, it is kind of twisted in a funky way, or maybe its just a branch from the broken tree?

have a nice day
Matthew

Tomasis - Thank you very much! Glad you like them.

Matthew - Thanks! I tried some darker and very saturated colours this time...kind of like the effect, myself. Not sure about the leg thing--they look fine to me, but I could be confused from looking so long at it. Very Happy It IS a bit tough to distinguish the legs from the background...I'll have to watch that next time.

balistic - Thank you! Very Happy Most of the people who got the $50 deal were aware of my usual prices...that's probably why I had to do so many! Oops!

Germ01 - Thank you--glad you like my colours! To answer your question, the owners of the animals sent me photographs of their animals, then I drew them in more interesting poses so they'd fit in the backgrounds I painted for them.

your art is truely beautiful. It's rendered very nicely, I always like the feelings the pictures give off. Now as for my thank you, I'd prefer a "Cool Very Happy glad you like em Smile"

hehe
