Hey there. Here is a firebat I drew without a reference and without playing starcraft for more than an hour in the past year. Its for a school project, and anything you can say to help would be groovy.

Thanks.

Thankee!

Loxley may be a prick but he is right. what you might want to try doing is roughing in blocks drawn in perspective for the whole figure then build the outside shapes on top of that (eg: armor skin, weapons, blah blah blah). with drawing youre gonna find you can get better drawings by staying away from commiting to anything for as long as possile. also you want to think about what kind of message youre trying to send with this picture, if youve got a particular idea of what you want but cant quite get it down, go try and find a shot from a movie or comic that conveys that message and use it as reference. good luck, take it easy.

well said mate Mr. Green

ok here's my crit/patronising advice. first thing would be to work on drawing the human body regularly. a) it's fun, and b) your overall skill will improve dramatically in a short time. second thing is, don't ever get discouraged by what anyone says. listen to it, but don't get depressed by it. you're a schoolkid and you've got a long time before you need to get too harsh on yourself. (I, on the other hand, being 24, need to get my shit together Wink )

You may also find it more helpful if you ask specific questions. Pick out a part of your artwork that you really feel needs improvement and ask a question about that. You're more likely to get a response, and less likely to get smart ass comments. Smile Keep working and you'll get there.

OK, i wont over add to what everyone else has said but i'll try to add a new thing, even if it's obvious -
im missing a specific light source. your black shading are lacking meaning - it seems as if they are here just for tha hell of it.
try to imagin where does your light comes from and shade the opposite side of the object. think of every small part of your figure as a small squer or a ball that is being shaded seperatly (darker on opposite side to the light and brighter on the said that faces the light source) and shade them as should and then try to think, if u can, about what object will casst shadoes on other objects.
shading is a very compilacted subject and u need to think 3D in order to get it right and it takes a hellovalot practice, just like everything.

keep it up and try as much as u can. be optimic and creative.
cheers

No offense to the artist, but does that look like Mr Hanky the Xmas Poo in a mecha suit to anybody else?
