You know the kind...

Ingredients:

1. Sultry female vocalist
2. Upright Bass
3. Piano
4. brush drum kit (optional)
5. Trumpet or sax (optional)

Stir slightly at a slow tempo. Mix in blues elements to taste.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone got any reccomendations for such music? Doesn't matter what language - English, Russian, French, etc.

Hmmm, you might want to look to Brazilian lounge music. And Peter would know what to look for.

Billie Holiday
Diana Krall
Ella Fitzgerald
Sarah Vaughan
Shirley Horn
Dinah Washington
Roberta Flack
Carmen McRae
Nina Simone

There are countless songs of course, but check out Diana Kralls Boulevard of Broken Dreams for example, or I'm Thru With Love, I think these might be something along the lines of what you're looking for ... many of these singers sometimes venture into Blues and R&B ... Norah Jones record that's all over MTV nowadays has some nice ones too, but might be a bit ... ummm ... mainstream ..

Cheggidout ...

Hmm...out of those can you reccomend any of the slower, less poppy, more melecholic ones? Cause I'm lookin' for some real downers.

finally someone who's got some taste in music Wink
kinda hard to find though, good stuff anyways.. i preferrably listen to instrumental stuff with a touch of sax Smile never heard of Nina Simone, gotta check her out...
if you're into instrumental stuff, you might wanna check out Angelo Badalamenti, a couple of his tunes from Twin Peaks are quite nice...

have you heard Anja Garbarek?
Spin The Context for instance, kinda experimental, but has some sultry vocals, and a nice bassline... and a slow tempo Smile

might post some more later when i get back home...

OK - so I know it aint got no female vocalist in it, but if you don't own "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis, I suggest you go out and get it - now!
Very Happy
