I was looking Graig Mullins pirate paintings and I wanted to give it a try also.
I'm posting this here, because I want to get replys about what's anatomically incorrect or what's wrong with the whole picture. It's damn boring to fix these when it's already finished. So as I said, comments are welcome.

Thanks Dr.bang it really helps to paint with big brush first. I have to say that I've had always that problem, that I don't sketch the colors first. I always get stuck with some little detail, that doesn't actually even matter.
Here is some taste of sketching. Is it made with too small brush? Well atleast I made it fast, it took me under 5 minutes

Youre doing good so far man! Yeah, its always good to put the basic color, shapes down because you're just starting the picture, so later on you dont have to go back and tweak them alot.
Good luck with your pic!! What i'm i saying, youre probably dont even need any luck to make this picture come out good.
Take care. |

ahhh, that's what's going on with the second pirate, I thought it was some sort of robotic cyborg spider pirate, which would have been pretty damn cool. nice pic |

Holy smokes! And you did that without a sketch first? I'd have sketched it out on paper, scanned it in, spent about 3 hours trying to "color it in", got frustrated that it didn't look painted and turn the computer off and gone to bed! But seeing you paint THIS way makes things so much clearer!
Very nice picture! Love the worm's eye view!! And I like that the picture is telling a story of some kind with characters that seem to be really interacting. Keep it up! Would love to see the finished piece! |

lol @daeldren, that's just wht I was thinking too "Behind your back! A three headed monkey!" *grin*
But about the picture: I like the way you changed the point of focus by adding more at the left and making the picture broader. It looks like the two at the right are betraying the one in the middle who's all alone *sigh* poor guy(brush)...
keep up the good work, love it already ![Cool](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) |
