good job
I noticed the water only after my third look or so, if that's any help.. maybe it should take more of the sky color at that angle from the viewer ? _________________ "I'm not a shrimp, I'm a KING PRAWN !" -- Pepe.

Yeah, that helps. First of all, its a speedy painting, the water didnt get as much attention as the rocks. Second, i thought, the water isn clear .. a little bit muddy ... and in the middle of the pic, the water reflects the rocks most time instead of the sky... but it could be better ... ... hmm, i think i have to look at some references to really get the mistakes. ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ Lars Gtze

looks good.
I have some comments if you don't mind.
it's sunset, I would have decreased the brightness towards the horizon, because now it's a bit hard to see the horizon point. ALso, let the sky color and brighness reflect the water more. and then also the reflection from the mountains. ALo, now it gets a bit flat because the contrast is the same all over. I would increase the contrast more in the closest area. ALos, the shadow brighness is the same all over, if you decrease the amount of light and the bottom of the mountains, as the light would get more sucked out there (less bouncing of light), it would give you more depth to the picture I think.
Others here I'm sure could explain/show this better, but here's a quick example.

Looks very nice, especially for a speedpainting with no ref.
If you want to make the water more obvious, you should make the reflection more visible. Also the sky is often brighter that the ground objects, and has an astmospheric gradient brightening towards horizon. Now if you add this reflection brightness to water and leave the cliff reflection areas as "dark muddy water" -color, you shoud get more realistic water.
Oh, now I see that Joachim said all that allready:)

yea heh
nice work, it could be changed into anything actually, a ccaravan of donkeys crossing the stream? a small boat? or like neo suggested, an x wing ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ Derelict Studios|Godwin's Space |

It helps alot - i will try to use this knowledge for the next pictures.
This was just a try to get the colors fast, i dont want to go on ... hmmm, the X-Wing perhaps i'll just detail it ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ Lars Gtze
