Hi Folks,
Since some time I'm trying to get a picture done, but basicly the result's all the same: after some time I don't know what to do!
Yesterday I started this picture, now tried to color it in 2 Versions:
1) With Brush options: no-pressure sensitivy but size
2) With Brush options: pressure sensitivy and no size

The first picture is from the first option, and the second one's from the second option:

But I'm stuck at this time. It never looks like I want it to, but I don't know what to do!
The first one looks to "cell-shaded", what I don't want it to, and the second & third one look like a 1min sketch....

Anyone knows what to do?
Thanks a lot,
JM

first off, you can find info in these forums, just search Smile

some small tips that i've learnt and go by sometimes:

use more custom shaped brushes to get more random features...

things that are small but clearly seen, usually have strong contrast between colors, and the opposite for things that are for instance far off in the distance...

remember the basic rule for lighting,
warm light = cool shadows
cool light = warm shadows...
this rule can be bent and often broken, though...
(a small example:)

as for water... think of water as transparent, it's colored by it's surroundings, and reflections... and isn't always clearly blue, unless it reflects a blue sky...
and then comes hilights and shades.. etc...

usually things get faded out and "colorless" the closer the horizon it is...

for more info, search the forums! and check sumaleths link page...

First off recommend getting a couple different clipping of Niagra falls and other waterfall situations look at them than began thinking about the depth of the picture in considerations to the composition of mountains in the back ground and close surroundings.
Look for pictures of rivers and other areas and compile yourself a new picture. WHala also the man in the top one is way to outa proportion to his surroundings unless your going for a giant in a mid scene situation.
