Hello fellow Sijuners, let me go ahead and intruduce myself since I'm new here. My name is Brian Miller, I'm starting college (3d animation at Fullsail) in a week, but I've been working on my painting skills the last month. Heres some things I've made recently in my free time, keep in mind that I'm still a newbie at painting Smile .

Here is my second attempt at painting, I never finished it. Thanks to the people who replyed in the WIP forum, and thanks to Socar Myles (this idea came to me when I was trying to goto sleep after visting your AMAZING website)

Some random sketches and paintings:

This is something I just starting painting a couple of hours ago:

Thanks for viewing, and as always comments definitely welcome.

I thought socar loved rats o_0

very good for one of your first pieces.. mmm... A painting like that would really benifit from perspective changes... a more dramatic perspective would emphasize it more ... say from the back of the mouse trap looking at the head of the rat... and the rat either showing an expression of cluelessness or horror at his impending death Wink

Your other works are great for a start as well!

keep it ocming.

Hey, I'm very glad to hear my site was inspiring for you! I think the rat is the best of these paintings...but of course I am biased...I like rat pictures on principle. Hehe...looks like he is about to be an ex-rat though! I really like the way you did the motion on the mousetrap...and the metal is very nicely rendered.

Here are a couple of little crits:

- I think you missed a couple of shadows on the mousetrap--the hooks that hold down the spring are leaving no shadow right now, and also the shadow cast by the bait should probably be a little more intense.

- The rat looks a bit less real than the rest of the picture right now, probably because you've used fairly natural colours everywhere else, but the rat is done in white and gray. Pure white and gray just doesn't suit most painting styles--a "white" rat in a scene like this would look better in a yellow-red shade, with lighter yellow highlights and reddish or bluish shadows.

Anyway, you are definitely on the right track--these crits are pretty minor, and I love the pic.

Great comments guys. I'm glad you like it Socar, I thought you might hate it because of what is about to happen to the poor rat Smile.

Here is the revised, and probably final version (unless someone points out something else in need of improving):

Hi,
Did a little Homage to your rat picture.
Can't post here because it's on geocities.
Check out "Louie on the 16th" at http://www.geocities.com/joding46/Picpage.html
To see it full size, right click on properties then click on the
titel that comes up,

Keep Painting,
Joe
