I am currently putting together a new website for myself and I was wonding if someone here could check out what I have so far and maybe give me some feedback. I'm very open to any new ideas, let me know what you think!

http://66.28.38.231/temp/index.htm

none of the buttons will take you anywhere, but they do animate when your cursor goes over them. BTW, 95% of the site is pure photoshop.

thanks for your time!

Cutting clips from [H]? I hope that's temporary... I like the site though, cool use of flash. Good job.

hahah, yup the text was just grabbed as filler so I could put something in the table. Of course I read [H] a couple times a day so the page was open when I needed some text.

I think the page is a huge cpu hog, did you have any problems with the animation studdering or stopping?

looks cool and the buttons are pretty nice, but it's super annoying how you click one and the animation reloads.. I'm on mac os 10.2 so maybe this is my problem, or maybe it's still in progress. If you're going to mix flash and html, you might want to put the flash in a seperate frame.

Hey, very nice site.
Only one thing, I would tone down the links, I think they are a way to much annoying, with all that flimmer....just a tip.
Anyway the design is very cool.

take it easy

Actually I like the links.
However you should consider having Flash skip the menu loading animation after the initial viewing. Perhaps a cookie or something.
Cool site.

yeah of course I want everyone to see the loading animation as much as possible cus I like it a lot, but I can see how it can get really annoying Smile what if I changed it into somthing that only takes like 1 second to fully animate? I will be changing those buttons soon.. everyone seems to have some sort of problem with them Smile

Ok I think I made the buttons on the left 100% better. They animate now much much quicker and I got rid of the constant animated static. I have also done lots of work behind the scenes on the flash files. Now you can't click on the button highlighting the page you are at. Also you will notice that blank buttons at the top don't animate and you can't click them. I still got a long way to go.

Any suggestions?

When you roll off the nav buttons on the left they stay highlighted until you roll over another. This could be a problem if you're planning on having the highlighted buttons indicate where you are in the site. (ie: if you're in the news section, the news button is highlighted). As it stands now, you end up with two highlighted buttons.

I'm liking the cut out letters. But the animation is a but chuggy. At first glance I wasn't sure if it was flash and thought maybe it was an animated gif. Smile

Those are really the only things that stuck out to me.

Addendum to the highlight issue: It only seems to happen if you leave your mouse over the button for awhile. Quick rollovers don't seem to make it stick.

Hope that helps!

oops! I didn't mean to leave that gear animation in there.. yeah it just uses up way too much cpu power and it slows everything down.

Actually the button problem you are talking about happens when you move the mouse off of the button too quickly. flash can't track the cursor when it isn't over the flash file and it thinks the mouse is still over the button. I am looking for a way around this Smile

ok I fixed the problem with the buttons. It took me about 5 hours of confusion but now I'm happy Smile now its time to move on to other things.

If anyone finds any problems with the new buttons let me know!

rather than having individual pages (i.e. links.htm, resume.htm, etc.) just load a new swf into a different level of the main movie. it'll make transitions much smoother and keep the buttons from flashing white as each new page loads in.
