hoo
it's been a while since i painted anything..
Work has eaten up my creativitiy
Anyways here goes, and its obviously quite influenced by Loki's airship pictures :
some people have been irritated by the black texture-splatter in the middle..hm.. I dont know, i dont mind though.
I'm a bit unsure about the environment. When I didnt have the airship in, I got lord of the rings vibes, like Mordor/Moria:ish. But I'm actually thinking this is some huge underground cave..therefor the odd environment.
It's not 100% done, there might be some tightening up. But as a whole its done..any comments appriciated. |

i think you should either make the airship smaller or maybe add more atmospheric perspective to make the airship look farther away. for some reason it seems like the airship is either really big or the mountain is really small. maybe its just me. |

R3t: Thanks alot! Actually I am working at Dice (Digital Illusions) a game company. But its like.. when you sit & do graphics for 8 hours a day, you feel like you want todo something else when you get home =\
But I'm trying to "keep it up" at home though..
Jami: Cool! thanks.
edible snowman: hm yeah, but dont look at it like a mountain, think of if as just a pretty big pointy rock. Although the mountain the backround is indeed some sort of mountain. I know, it looks confusing hehe. |

Heya binke, long time.
The atmosphere in this one is sweet. I don't actually mind the black texture thingy at all. Only thing I can suggest is that the perspective in the foreground (from the mountains to us) seems a bit vague. Like the foreground 'drops off'.
The rock texture is lovely.
Nice one. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

This is fantastic stuff!
Here's a couple of suggestions:
To make it look more like a cave, try adding in a few subtle stalagtites jutting down from the celeing here or there, faded and soft in the background (this might also eliminate the effect of your rock appearing overyly 'mountain-ish'). Maybe even add a dark gash crevace in the wall behind, to give the sense that the airship came from somewhere.
Something else you can try, although I'm not sure how well it will work without seeing it, is to add a blue color cast on the right side of the objects, to give a sense that there's another, more natural light souce positioned just off-camera. Or, you could add a mist on the ground plane for added atmosphere. heh.. okay, I'll keep quiet now.
(this is inspiring me to go off and experiment with my own stuff) |

ceenda: Yes! long time.. good point! I agree. I've been thinking of putting some neat structures there on the ground to suggest perspective & scale. Thanks!
4nton: I agree. I thought about adding stalagtites and/or some kind of rock structure in the background, havent had the time though. Lots of great suggestions there! Thanks, ill keep em in mind when I get time to work on it some more! |
