Is amazing. I just bought his "Fearless" DVD, and it is incredible.
I don't know how many of you are familiar with him, but he's a magician that absolutely defies all logic. I'm serious. This isn't some David Copperfield bullshit. It truly is incredible.
www.davidblaine.com might have some videos of his tricks, but I'm not sure anymore.
Anyway, I highly reccomend you pick up this DVD. It'll entertain you for hours and hours. It's hard to believe the guy is human. He can fucking levitate. UGH! |

i saw this guy at bryant park standing on that poll.
cool stuff. but alot of his t.v. specials are too phonie for my taste. too many cammera tricks, i like it when the illusionist does the stuff himself. bah, i'm not making sense. |

He does do the stuff himself, dude. That is what is so cool about him.
He does "street magic" ... no mirrors or any shit like that. Usually just a deck of cards, and the shit is AMAZING.
For example.. he pulled a thread out of some ladies shirt. He rolled it up and put it in his mouth and swallowed. Then he lifted up his shirt and there was this tiny little thread sticking out of one of his abs (like a hair or something), and it pulled it out of his fuckin' skin! It was like 2 feet long, he was just pulling it out of his stomach muscles. It was, of course, the thread he just swallowed. There are sooooooooo many incredible things that I can't even begin to describe it.
That stunt he did in the ice was also very real. There was some retarded FOX special (Behind the magic, or whatever) where they tried to demystify the trick, but they changed EVERYTHING around. It wasn't even the same stunt. Silly, silly people.
Anyway, I think he's amazing. I wish I lived in New York so that I could see some of those amazing stunts too. |

i live in new york, i go to those places, washing sq park/ central park, soho, blah blah blah, the people on those speicals are terrible actors. "dude". alot of it is just stupid bad acting. it's soo goddamn obvious too. i admire his endurance and shit like that but give me a break some of those "people" in the street are just really bad actors. hey but if that stuff entertains you, then what i say shouldn't matter. |

Heh. jr, David Baline isn't your average guy painted up silver in Times Square. He's had a few TV specials, and it looks to be that his craft is very well done.
It's all fake, though. There's no real proof that any of the stuff that he does is even possible. |

Well, as far as the street magic goes.. the levitation is an absolutely hilarious hoax. In one of the examples you can actually see Dave simply lift himself up with his right toe. In the rest the camera cuts to a scene MOST CERTAINLY recorded afterwords which shows him lift at least 2 feet off the ground (i heard he's notorious for video editing). I laughed histarically when i saw it.. why include both the real (cheezy) and ludicrous versions of a trick in one special? .. The card tricks are real. Many people can do them, and if you're curious enough on how they're done just download the blaine videos from kazaa and watch\re-watch. Making coins disappear and guessing a name that people are thinking of are beyond me, but probably not much beyond your local magician. The credit i give to magicians is their mastery of handling cards and coins .. and of course their ability to have people believe in something beyond simple physics :] |

yeah...the camera in DavidBlaine's videos move very suspiciously...something is unnatural about it
about David Copperfield...Pixel, i saw david Copperfield do an awesume trick when he was a guest at Conan O'Brian's show once... i still can't even imagine how he did it. |

i hate david blane. I thought he was awesome until I saw some TV show Secrets of Magic or whatever that revealed a good deal to me. Basically it solidifies that any magic tv show for one thing uses camera cuts. that's gay. it would be interesting to watch them perform actual tricks, but to watch something that tells you the camera won't cut away - a flat out lie - and in reality be watching the old stop/start recording trick any five year old can do - how exciting. The editing really bothers me, it's used in just about every big tv magic stunt, but as far as I'm concerned that means they haven't even figured out a trick. They've got nothing. |

Does he really edit the videos on that 2 foot levitation? That just kills all my interest in his shows. |

Contrary to what you have heard - he DOES NOT edit those instances at all.
I've watched the fuckin' DVD like 9 times now. The last few times I've been looking specifically for "tricks" in his little levitation stunts. There aren't any camera tricks. I dunno how he does it. Obviously he can't really hover, but it isn't the camera work that makes that trick. |

Ok then, mister pixel sir, why would he do a CRAPSHIT version of a trick that involves NO camera cuts (the camera seems to 'turn off then turn back on', except facing the back of dave) in once instance.. and then do some strange impressive unexplainable version of a trick in the other instances, which involve the camera switching to view the back of him. If he wanted to impress people, why not simply NOT cut the camera before the trick, eh? What other more obvious clue could there be :]
..Maybe you need to watch it a 10th time.
and dont get me wrong. I think blaine's a killer magician. I dont believe he hires actors, either. |

it is very hard to believe on TV... but if he did one of his card tricks on me id believe in him forever.
in one of his cards tricks he let a police officer pick out a card out of a full deck. he then asked him to put it back in and as soon as the cop put it in, david threw the full deck at the cops boots. he then tells him to take it off and shocks everyone when the cop finds his card inside his boot.
now ofcourse this could have been done using a fake cop and yaddy yaddy yadda, but if he did that to me in person id fucking shit myself.
and the freakiest thing about Blaine is that when he finishes a trick he just walks away. the people are just left there standing holding their mouths...lol.....i swear id pee myself. |
