Done in Painter 6, with special thanks to Mr. Photoshop and Skinny Puppy:
cresent moon im cutting through
paste up warnings fill the sky
smoking embers i remember time and time again
to try
to live i light
to sink within her
i think of light
time to blame to borrow from your past elapsed
collapsing

Thank you for the quick reply max. I am a fan of your work too; especially the girl with the sword.
And to answer your question, no, I don't use smudging very much... The blocking in and the girl were done using the palette knife tool and the smeary round, and everything else was loads and loads of impasto of all kinds... Depth smear, Acid Etch, Distorto, Smeary Bristle Spray, Gloopy, Smeary Round, etc. etc. Let's just say If I hadn't done this digitally, it would be about 3 feet thick with paint... ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I like it overall, the mood, the colours..
.. but if I may, I have issues with her waist/hips (and the filter too but that's another discussion tsk tsk ! LOL) I'd really like to see a line artwork of her body if you made one first *don't dare painting over, you didn't ask for it and I'm not god :p* |

Sorry, no linework before... I really hate coloring linework. I built this up like a traditional painting. And also, I didn't use any filters... All I did in photoshop was adjust hue/saturation and brightness contrast and use the brush tool on low opacity to touch up some errors I saw after I adjusted the colors and to go over the impasto for her clothing to make it not so super bright and shiny... It looked like metal before. |

SoMK -
here's the best I can do:
This is with the hair and clothes layers turned off. Those slashes of purple are the shadows the clothes cast. For some odd reason I did them on the skin layer... silly. Anyway, other people have mentioned the hips too; I think the clothes cover them up in an odd way that makes them look distorted or out of proportion. |

*The inpasto is the b*** I was talking about, eh :p*
Anyway... yup, this confirms the hips/waist/crotch trouble.. and you're right, the layers of cloth really emphasize the effect.. Lowering her crotch (and the veil) a tad could do the trick imho, it's a lil'teenyweeny change. Actually, this cloth must be very uncomfortable :) and if she was a guy, I'm quite sure it would hurt...
Aren't we nitpicking ? :p That's because we loooove you LOL. |

Nice Job. I like your use of impasto. The moon especially turned out well. One of my favorite of your pieces so far. |
