Just got a new intuous 2 and I had to break it in. Photo ref used. I loved the girls pose and had to draw her.
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Blocking in basic shapes and values.
Step 2: Bringing out details and refining areas.
Step 3: Played around with the color scheme. Decided I wanted something to emphasize the red hair. Also colored in the bow.
Step 4: Flipped the image to check proportions and thought, "Wow. I like it better this way." Also enlarged the eye and pushed the back of the head foreward some.
Step 5: Refining the gloves. Small highlights on the eye and worked on the hair a little more.
Next step to come soon I think. :green:
Step 6:
Just some general refinement. Worked on the front of the hair, the ear, the facial features, a tiny more on the glove, the dress and the bow.
Step 7:

Hey Jezebel, nicely done.
The only minor crit I have is the edges where her face meet the background could probably use some softening up in a few strategic locations. The glove and bow came out really well, as well as the hair.
And thanks for showing the steps. I like seeing how other people work. |

Thankee everyone. And yes, the face could use a little work. But overall I'm proud of this piece. Oh well. |

Wow I love the colours. The red of her hair is in perfect contrast with the green all around. And I just love this ambient yellowish green. I gives the pictures, I dunno, some sort of vintage feel to it (if that makes any sense in english ?)
I have one question though. Why the change of facing ? for some reason I would have thought left was quite appropriate because of the way she doesnt smile (looking towards the past, with nostalgia).
Mmmh, very thoughtful look though. Love the dress too !
Overall, a very goth picture IMHO.
Love it |

I guess because I thought of it as her looking "forward" rather than back. With a face of confidence as opposed to nostalgia. But I guess its open for interpretation too. =) |
