Oy.
Hi everyone, I've been lurking for awhile, and as many people have said before, you guys are all a great inspiration to myself and many other people. I just received my Wacom tablet about 5 days ago, and got right into the swing of things. I've done two pieces for school, both of which were pretty much experimentation with Wacom and the method's which is can be used.

Sorry for the geocities crap, but I haven't gotten my own site up and running yet. Will do very soon.
Both are done in Photoshop. The first one is a panel where Atlantis is getting struck by lightning bolts, and is erupting due to the disturbance. I had a couple of problems with certain aspects, but overall I am fairly please (it will be printed at a smaller size, mind you, maybe 7 inches by 6.5). The second is a still life of video games and video game hardware. I was going for a painterly approach with the still life, trying to give it a lack of detail but at the same time keep realistic geometric forms and color.
If you have any critiques or comments on either, it would be more than a pleasure to hear them. I look forward to posting my work here more often, and possibly even getting feedback from the board gurus.
Thanks very much.

Im not quite sure what to make of your two pics. Your computer hardware study looks very good, I think you captured the lighting of the scenery really well.
The Atlantis pic is another thing, it doesnt have the same consistent lighting - the sky and the volcano eruption look pretty good - why did you draw those thin lines over it? The character is also strange - you obviously spent a lot of time detailling the sword (which hangs the wrong way I think ), but left the hands for example very sketchy... it all depends what you want to focus on, but if you have varying levels of detail you shouldnt have more than one area of high detail, the rest should be left sketchy. You seem to have a good grasp for colors, dont go into detail too much (I think you could use brush sizes about twice as big as the largest you used) and focus on the overall impression. You can always work on details later.
Keep going! |
