Howdy! This forum is a huge source of inspiration for me. I love all you guys and envy your talent shamelessly. Now for the dreaded first post *cringe*...
This is to be a present for a relative who loves horses and fantasy stuff (thus the blue horse flying through the sky amongst badly drawn clouds). This was pretty experimental for me (one of my many weaknesses is fear of experimentation) so c & c are definitely welcome. Main thing I noticed-should have been a whitish reflection from the clouds on the horse (oops). I can't change it since it's already been finalized and all, but I do look for tips to help future paintings. Thanks guys! |

Maybe your next piece should have the clouds forming into the shape of a horse? Nice work, and the clouds aren't that bad. |

Hi! Sorry I didn't see this post earlier. I haven't been here for a while. Thanks for posting this wonderful horse painting. It's a nice relief from all the super-monster-mecha-murder-death-kill posts I see so often.
Anyway, I love horses and I work with them, ride them, and draw them as often as I can, so I saw a few anatomy issues in this horse. Hope you don't mind but it's easier for me to show you than tell you:
The biggest problem was with the neck and front leg. You can see the other changes I made. |

the horse needs more space!
at least if you draw it in such a scenery.
the feeling of riding a horse.. above the clouds.. freedom, blabla doesn't work with this composition imo.
a litle bit of extra space on the left. right and top would make this image more intensiv. |

Hey, thanks for all your comments, guys! I really do appreciate them, you're helping me get better, you know!
plastikman - Why thank you
Day Dreamer - Thanks, heh
chao chin - I agree, more reflections! Thanks for the comment ^^
Beowulfthefallen - Hehe, cool idea! You're too kind about the clouds...
Turokess - Wah! Thanks so much! I'm almost frightened that you can make the horse look so much more graceful and unencumbered by moving those lines around. Must...get...better refs....*hits self with keyboard*
zeitzeuge - Hey, thanks! I agree completely, I got so caught up trying to get the values right (or get it finished, heh heh) that I obviously wasn't paying much attention to the actual composition. Thanks for the ideas! Must...consider...visual appeal...
Thanks again everyone! I can feel myself learning from my mistakes already... |
