done in Pshop, so I can promote myself better in the fantasy market... I keep getting AD's who can't see that I could do this kind of work, simply because I don't have it in my book. It's the old story of he can draw a cow, but can he draw a horse.... it's a tough road to deal with as an artist, the tunnel vision, a paying client is shrouded by.. but I guess it's important to them to be that way, to ensure they get what they need from an artist. So why use someone who doesn't have it in their book, when there are artists out there who do... Well eventually I'll be one of the artists who have this type of work in their book ( at least enough of it to market myself properly).... and here's one of those hopefully many pieces to come...
it's pretty much done.... for what it is... I may go back into it and tighten up some areas, but I'm not sure I will, I'm happy with it so far.. but any C&C's you have to offer would be greatly appreciated...
thanks alot

Has that creature got eyes? at first i thought it had a red eye but then realised its a rock, just wanna know.
another thing that should be worked on is the armour of the knights, it doesnt look very metalic, especially when compared to the flesh of the creature, their almost the same...add crisper reflections to achieve a better effect.
I thought you would prefere helpful crits rather than me going WOW ![](images/smiles/icon_eek.gif) |

Very nice, although yeah you could benefit from more use of bounce light and surface variation in there. It took me a moment to work out what it was a picture of. |

well, I think that this piece has alot of motion and a good dynamic range in both color and movement but the one thing that stands out to me the most is how blurry everything seems, from the reflections, to the knights ( look at legs especially ) and the monster in texture wise.
I am not shooting it down at all, I just think that some finer details would really benefit it. |

It looks really cool to me...particularly the action/motion of the monster and the lava/fire underlighting...great rendering all around, as well. Compostionally, it feels a little compressed or rushed...or some other ridiculous artsy fartsy term in an attempt to tangibalize the intangible. I guess, all I am trying to say, is that it is a little difficult to really tell what is going on. If the monster is coming up out of the ground, and taking the knights by surprise (which may not be the case, it is only my assumption) then I would think there would be alot more ground/rocks/fire spewing upwards and the closer Knight would be falling backward and more off balance. Just my $.02, there. Regardless, it is an excellent painting ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Arc][Pello - you're right thats what I wanted, and no.. no eyes, and I will remove that rock to avoid confusion thanks
-HoodZ-- hey man what's up???? you can adjust opacity by hitting the numbers on the keyboard... 1+10%, 2+20%, so on.. 0=100% it makes it easier to use the mouse
Sumaleth - you mean overall???
Atherium - I hear ya, and I see it myself
cptoonz - I understand... I think some more shape clarity is needed.. |

Hi General,
My fist imperssion is that I liked better than the usual stuff that I seen u do in the past probibly because it has more action than the usual and a dynamic circle composition that seems to work well in a fantasy piece. Also I like the Hildabrant type lighting coming thought the trees.
Then when I looked further I did notice that the creature has no eyes or that the they are closed and the soccets need more defining and that some areas are very blurd and that other areas seem to sharp like the front of the creatures face makes it look like it is on a photoshop layer when things are to sharp.
Another thing is that I think you could use brighter highlights and more saturation of color to show more depth and too help guide the viewers eye to see what is closer and what is farther away.
But all in all it is very nice...
