just kidding. i scanned 20 pages of cute animals from various sketchbooks that i've been filling lately, but this indeed is something completely different.
not that everyone else hasn't done a flying car yet, but i had to give a shot in designing one myself :P. c&c welcome.
sketched in hospital yesterday, painted tonight. photoshop5 |

hahah, that's damn hilarious! i don't have a mark in my forehead to follow me for the rest of life, right?
so, i'm whipping up a small tut.
step1: put in the basic color for the picture... i wanted some ugly oranges (i love orange) and save time with the background so smog it is. this is where i just paint on another layer on top of the sketch, i later put the sketch on top and on Multiply so i could see through it and go with the colors.
step2: i lassoed some general areas and tried out all kinds of custom brushes i happen to have. ps5 likes to crash every now and then and clear out my brushes, and i cant be bothered to create new ones everytime (and no i'm not backing them up, thanks for asking!) so i go with what i have. just create texture until there is enough, or use a photo with all kinds of texture like foliage for example.
step3: after the texture is there, put a normal layer on top and define the crisp edges, seams, highlights, whatever. leave the texture alone, values should tell which sides are facing the light source.
step4: well this is actually the 100% detail shot to show there are custom brushes, regular round brushes, noise and even blurred noise to form the nice look. (at least i think it's nice).
that's how i went about in creating this pic.. for some other pics the order might be different but this time it went with little to no banging my head in a wall.
that's about all i have to say. ask me. |
