A couple of days ago, there was a "Louise Brooks"-Thread. I didn't know anything about her, but then I saw some pictures of this silent-movie star. I liked the pictures, so I TRIED to paint a portrait.

Not bad at all, some really nice strokes going on in that "fur" of hers. Me like!
For critique's sake, I'd say her face seems a bit flat. If you take another look at the reference, her right side face is more in light than her right side.

Thank you for your thoughts.
To the lighting: As you can see, I changed the lighting completly compared with the reference and I'm not sure if I should give the face more contrast - but I have to think about it again. Maybe you are right. |
