I dreamt the concept up last night, and having one day of vacation, I obviously can't think of anything better to do than to paint this.
Well, if nothing else, it is a fine illustration of my lack of painting skills. I hope you like it anyway.

I think a "paddelin" is an obscure Simpson's reference, no?

You need more foreshortening in the shadow area to make it look closer to the ground, it rather looks like it's floating. The ground needs more detail and color contrast. That's all I can see for now.

Hey you guys,
thanks for all the comments!

I agree, iByrn. With the low horizon and the orientation of the ... "thing" , the shadow needs more foreshortening. Otherwise there would have to be some sort of slope on the ground or something.
As for the lack of ground detail... I rushed this image in the last hours before going on a little weekend trip, so I didn't have enough time and peace for it. I also wanted to put in some of those "western style balls of brushwood", whatever it's really called , but didn't get to it in the end.
I don't think I will put further work in the image, but I will use your comments for future pictures. On to the next one!

Simpsons? I don't watch that show often, so I wouldn't know any insider gags.
-> Still curious about that paddelin thingamabob! <-
