I like the lensflare. Don't change it
I think the main problem here is that the picture is a bit boring. Its parts are all pretty good themselves. But neither the colours nor the elements create a tension or excitement in the viewer... use more dramatic colours. right now its all pretty much brown greyish...

well yeah the rocks look horribly flat and the ripples on the rock isn't helping it either. How to improve it??? Look at some picture of rocks while you are at it look at come National geography pictures of some snow field or whatever. Oh, and if you're not too busy you should look at some pictures of men holding guns cause I see anatomy issues here (who grabs their rifles like that...)

I think peoples aversion to lens flares is a little blunt around here.. an explanation why lens flares are "bad" would help. And it's not just because "it's too easy". Lens flares only show up if the image is being projected through glass. say if your images is supposed to be a photograph, or your looking through a window or lens(thus "lens flare"). If your picture is meant to be something like that.. then by all means have lens flares.

I made a paintover

especially at dawn and with a snowy setting you can pretty much run wild with colours. at dawn sunlight has to come through a lot of atmosphere and large parts of the spectrum splits up. that's why the light that comes through isn't white anymore. and snow is one of the most reflective mediums you have. So you can pretty much take the colours from the skies. And don't forget the blue bouncelight from the sky.

My english isn't the best. If anybody can explain better what I mean, then I beg him to do so.

edit: wrong url
