I would've posted this to the original thread but didn't find it.. so I'll post this here.
Flat: I really liked the concept (some say it's the most important aspect of an image) of the drawing and got really inspired and I just had paint it. I tried completely different approach on the image, more cinematic (see the widened aspect ratio) and realistic proportions with fantasy like colors. I chose too hard pose for the foreground orc, most of the time was spent trying to make it look natural.. I would've liked to work more on the mountains, they look way too soft now, but I didn't have more time.
Afterall, in this repaint, I wanted to show you how to improve the composition and to encourage you try out different and more natural/visually pleasing poses, experiment in general. and colors are cheap on computer
The drawing was definitely the best you have posted so far in my opinion!!

Wow! I saw the original thread yesterday (in the 99 Archive I think) and I was impressed by the idea too. You really pushed it to it's limits! The mountains should have some harder shading I think, but the only thing that really annoyed me was the horse in the back, some more warriors would be nice, and the horse's neck is a little outta line!
Anyway, I love it, especially the colors, nice mix of warm and cool colors... |

*jaw hits the floor* I never imagined you could make such a difference in an image from one of flat's drawings. Only problem I can see is that the horse in the background looks anatomically incorrect. Maybe the neck is too long? I can't tell. hehe. Nice though :O |

Didn't Flat just complete his version like last week, or am I totally on crack?
Btw, your interpretation is... hmmm... let's just say it has taken on a life of it's own. You rule. |

I Love it! I also agree with the other guys that the mountains could use a little more detail. Very very nice use of color. Maybe its just me, but feels like an oil painting to me: silky-smooth .
It looks like the orc dude is really sad. Do orcs mourn their dead?
I'm inspired |

Well BG, first of all, this picture is truly amazing, the lighting is extremely well done and the face expression of that orc is what some folks around would rate A+. I don't even mind the mountains lacking of detail, in their "simplicity" they kinda emphasize the focus on the action going on right in front of the viewer, or let's say "camera" (you were talking about a wide cinematic view and you're right with that). The fact I'm inspiring artists of your kind and that I'm getting compliments in the process by somebody like you only shows me there are folks outta there not biased to the bones, hating me for what I am or what I'm doing. I know they have enough reasons to envy my 100% man meat body. In fact it's not their fault, I'm just too dang fucking sexy. Back to the point, your work never ceases to amaze me, I know that sounds like a hackneyed phrase but it's just the way it is. I shall await your further artworks with great pleasure.
Cos, here's the pic I posted:
BTW, an interpretation of yours would be most welcome. |
