Hey, I'm new here. Up till now, I've done little more than pencil sketches, but lately, I've been messing around with my sketches on photoshop. Here are two examples. Any comments, suggestions, crits, would be greatly appriciated. thanks.

welcome to sijun man. o like the werewolf character, overall it looks good to me. only thing that looks off to me are his arm wrappings. i can tell what they are, but it took a second. might help if you made the lines that show the direction they go a little bit darker. the demon looks fine to me too, though the mouth seems on the small side and he has no ears. good works and welcome again!

*i think maybe the werewolfs staff could stand to be thicker. it woulk look better in his hand plus i dont think it could provide much support at its current thickness.

oh yeah man, those new wrappings look alot better! at first they looked like matted fur or something. and the staff looks like it could support much more weight! its great that you are so determined to explore textures and such, i know i dont do it enough.

What, no good points?
I think the first picture was Photoshop Translated well, would be interesting to see the raw sketches. You are showing concern for textures, which is something I lack myself. Good job.
The second image seems a bit "deader", what's the difference between the two?
Thanks, |

mhar, thanks for your suggestions. I initially just left the arm wrapping as is because more detail was tough to do with just a mouse, but I guess they did need a little tweaking. I followed your suggestions and got this.
Donk and Loxley,
actually, I quite agree, they are pretty generic and boring designs. Like I said I'm very new(these two are literally my 3rd and 4th drawings which were primarily made with photoshop) at this and I just wanted to test out the waters using something simple and easy. Basically how to deal with fur, rough skin etc. Thanks for the comments anyway. And any other suggestions would be great. |

Thanks torstein.
I think the difference is that the werewolf was a quick 2 minute sketch that I tweaked for about 3-4 hours on photoshop, and the demon was a 30 second sketch(that initially wasn't even symetrical) that only got less than an hour's attention on photoshop.
here are the originals.
