Hey Basement, these are really interesting pics. I especially like the second one. The warm orange and the silouhette is very nice to look at. If you don't mind me asking, what is your process and what medium are you using? |

Well Jason they are all done with acrylic. Basically I plan them out by sketching first, then I do a few coloured pencil drawings.
Then with a prepared board I start in the background and move forward. The acutal painting is slow. first I lay down some masking tape, draw the shape with pencil. Next I used a lino-knife and cut out the shapes that I want painted. Now I had problems with the next part. The tape removal. I found that with the board and type of gesso I was using the tape at time was pulling the paint off the board(because I had cut all the way to the board with the knife. a problem I didn't have when I did this on canvas.). So some touch up was involved. using the knife in a sidways motion helped get things started. I then used a matte medium to stop the paint from bleeding under the paint(tick tick wait for that to dry) Then I applied the paint. Now you have to wait till the paint and the medium is really dry with acrylics because of the elasticity(sp). Sometimes running the knife along the edges helps with this.
By the way are they interesting...interesting or interesting...wierd? |
