...is latin. It means "to dream (foolishly)". It's also the name of a new personal project I'm working on. I don't want to give all the details away at the moment, it'd spoil the surprise, but it is going to be a series of black/white images. It tells a story of how life on a beautiful planet has to fight for survival as something horrible crashes on their planet. Bit dodgy I know, but it's a good excuse for me to keep painting.
Feedback appreciated. Some people told me they don't like the white dots flying around, bit distracting they said. Personally I like them, creates a little magical atmosphere, which is something I'm trying to achieve. However, it's supposed to look kindof "unfinished" even if it's very detailed. I am going to create a series of images, so to make it possible to finish the project, I have to spend shorter amount of time on each. Tear it apart boys and girls.

Damn, that is something...
But you know, I sort of see what they mean about the white dots being distracting.
Well, at least some of them.
To be even more precise I'd say that the dots on the bottom right branch in the foreground might be the most distracting pieces in the image.
I don't know, it seems to me that they are in focus, whereas the branch isn't. Perhaps either making smoother edges on the cores of the dots, or just use a value that's a little less bright.
Other than that, well... I've run out of superlatives, believe me
The sky.. the rocks... The branches, the textures.. They really are rather incredible.
One of your best monocrome pictures, I must say.
[EDIT: That's monocrome, not monotone *Slaps forehead*]

saw this piece over at the concept art forum, anyway i agree about the focused dots on the unfocused branch being a bit distracting. the only other thing i would change would be to have more water cascading over those rock on the bottom left of the image, the waterfall seems to just be bouncing in the other direction.
but dont concern yourself with little things, get on with the next image. since something is going to cause massive destruction to this planet i could image a scene from atop of the high waterfall overlooking the forest as (my opinion) a metior flies over.
anyway keep up the good work. |

Damn, you are too talented boy. Not sure what people are talking about the white dots being distracting. To me they give a little oriental look(you know, fireflies) and to Westerner like me it gives it a bit more exotic feel which is cool and maybe what you were trying to achieve. |

Fantastic.
Would like some crisper splashes on the waterfall bits in the foreground, but it's great anyway.
Nice one. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Beautiful picture!
I think I would like the picture and composition better if you cut the bottom half away just above the white line from the waterfall. The way it is now it looks like two halfes to me split by the thick white line.

Ooooh.... this is stunning. I loooove the dots personally. Although I think some of the dots closer to the viewer might be a little fuzzier. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

that's beautiful, henrik, and very magical. the reason the bottom right dots look out of place is because if the branch is that blurry, it would be close, yet the dots, which are closer, are still sharp. if you moved them into the water below, this would probably fix it but keep balance.
