I'm just finishing up my first year of college so I figured I'd put a bunch of my work together and make a small site. I'm updating it with new stuff as I make it, but I'm interested is seeing what people think.

Any comments are welcome, thanks in advance.

I like it. Except the text, the way it goes right up to the edge of the image on the main page. You can work around this by adding a border with the same colour as your webpage background.

Your models are pretty damn cool. Nice work. I liked the progress sketches in the traditional section. Yourlife drawings weren't anything special, so I would suggest you work on them.

Hope that helps.

Thanks I knew I'd get some good feedback here =D

As far as life drawing goes I'm really looking forward to my second year of college. I've decided to focus on Classical animation as far as formal education goes so I'll be doing a lot more life drawing and traditional work. I really can't wait

Eh nice website. I love gray.

I don'T know if you wanted to know what people thought about your website's design or the content.. So .. anyway here goes nothing and ignore at will !

Altho you might want to compress the size of your images a bit more.. It's not everyone that has high speed connections (Luckyly I'm surfing from work ah!)
I watched your animations by the way. And would suggest that you could ask your teachers to provide you with real storyboards to study. It really helps to get a feel of the pace you should have for the story and break it up nicely. A simple idea for an animation is usually very short. The viewer is intelligent and doesn't need 8 shots to grasp an idea..
A bit of reading on character posing and dynamics would also be a good idea. You probably know about the BIBLE for animators called "Illusion of Life". You school probably (or at least should) have it

Ps.: that first life drawing is excellent !

I agree in most part with the before mentioned. I'd try to mix up the header typefaces from the sub-paragraph typefaces - on some pages it all seems to run together (exploer CSS - it's easy stuff really).

AND the big killer:
If there's a link back to home on your secondary pages, it isn't an intuitive find. Make sure you have one!

Hehe, thanks for all the feedback, got more attention than I expected

One thing about the storyboards; I know exactly what you mean as far as "less panel = good".

For personal stuff I'd lvoe to keep it like that, however for class we're being tought how we'd be expected to do it for a classical animation job, now I'm only a student so I really can't speak to the acuracy of that, but it seems to make sense to have more of the key poses insofar as animation boards go.

Would anyone out there know anything about that, I'd be interested in hearing more about what a "real animation storyboard" consists of.

Thanks again and keep it coming, so far you guys have been a big help.

aah.. Actually I did meant an animation storyboard when mentionning that And less panels is also good when it comes to the animation field. Not only because of flow concerning the pace but also financially. Layout is a fair chunk of an shows' budget... so less shots = less layout scenes = more $. (Layout artists please don't linch !)

Admitely, I'm more familliar with TV animated shows rather than motion picture.. But before landing a gig as a Dreamworks storyboarder you'll probably have a COUPLE of shows under your belt already

I think I have a few boards from "Marsupilami" at home. I could scan you a few pages if you like (note that I still have to a) find the box where is the board b) find my computer somewhere in another box under that pile right there and c) not forget ).

There are a few ppl working in the animation industry on this forum. I don't know if they are still visiting tho.
Never the less, best of luck and keep working hard

P.S.: moving is fun

lol, yeah if there's ONE aspect of the animation industry in halifax, it's layout studios so I can definitly understand the relevance of fewer shots having a big impact on cost (I was really surprised at how much layout cost).

But yeah about the boards, if you find those while unpacking PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE scan them I know that I would be very appreciative and I'm sure a handful of my classmates would _really_ love to see them too. We've been taught a little of Film boarding and Animation boarding and we've gottena little confused so I real production example would be a huge help.

Thanks for any efforts =)
