Yeah, it's dumb and sexist. Also, pay no attention to the conflicting shadows...
It's black prismacolor pencil and watercolor, again in my sketchbook that's bad for watercolor.

Hi Francis,
No surprise to anyone, I like it hhmmm, I don't see the conflicting shadows, myself. Great work on the gear, etc...maybe raising the tow of her left foot off the surface would be a bit more comfortable position, but I am typing that probably to just try to say something marginally constructive. I can see both some Appleseed and GITS influence...of course drawing your inspiration from Shirow shows excellent taste IMHO ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

The only thing that I notice immediately is that the chest piece is rather flat while the rest of the armor has dimension. It reminds me of just a game model with a skin on it. Otherwise it's a spiffy pic. |

What can I say? I like this pic..and think you're really coming along using figure. OK, it reminds me of certain artist but let's look beyond it.. Yeah, I've to agree her chest is little flat but hey that's just my male chauvinism coming through - nothing wrong with flat-chested woman. Damn, before I dig a deeper hole for my self....I like your use of water color, giving it a very earthy quality.

I really like it. nice compo. the watercolor you're working with, lately, make things more interesting for me, abit grungy ( especially with that cheap paper makes a good contrast with your clean ligne work, if you see what I mean. Have you tried working with stronger contrasts, sharper edges with your watercolors? even for fun ? |

Hey thanks for the feedback. Yes, there are some anatomy issues, like the left foot - I hadn't noticed the eye, but that's why I post...
Also, I will be the first to acknowledge Shirow as an influence, hehe.
Ed, yeah I was actually trying to depict an athletic woman - not necessarily flat chested, but when you look at runners or various female athletes, they don't tend to wear push up bras or be artificially enormous up top. Might look a little strange when the subject matter is just cheesecake like this tho...
Beet - I will try, I can see that I depend heavily on line work. Kind of going back to old habits, since I haven't used watercolor in quite a while. I've done a couple recently, but in a way that I can ease into it - more using it as background texture at first (like that red riding hood pic).
The computer she is wearing is actually based on an old design of mine. It looks really dated now - i.e. the CF slot (LOL), but oh well...

Er, I guess I wasn't entirely clear... no sweat, I'm happy to elaborate.
It's not that her breasts are small but that the armor (the chestplate pieces) covering her breasts don't actually look like physically seperate items (especially the portion covering the left breast), just like they're painted onto her skin. If you look at, say, the right kneepad, left hand glove or pretty much any of the other pieces I think you'd notice the difference.
Then again it could just be me.
