Hey, made these portraits from reference pictures of two of my friends. just bought a wacom, so i thought i should try it out. C & C are more than welcome. and if someone could give me some hints how to do colorportraits or know of a tutorial, i would be vary glad. thanks

They dont look too bad, but the shading is perhaps a little spotted which makes them look "dirty", and you need to add some highlights to the eyes - they look a bit dead at the moment.
Adding color to a grey image is actually pretty simple. You just add a new Layer in photoshop (assuming photoshop) and make it an "Overlay" type layer, or perhaps "Hue" or "Color". I can't remember which one works best, but have a play.
Then you just paint color onto that layer. It will only add color, it won't effect the values at all. |
