I got the inspiration for this piece from believe it or not "The Simpsons".
It was an episode where a Burlesque house (not sure if that's what they're called?) was trying to be shut down in Springfield.
I was trying to go for a clostrophobic atmosphere, hence the fog and only minimal background detail.
Oh, and the luminus markings on her jacket and the figure in the bg are there because I was thinking along the lines of an alternate steampunk 19th century.
Enough waffling.
Let me know what you like and dislike.
Thanks.

the glowing stuff looks like its came straight from Tron, nice image, the mouth seems a little too big though, not sure if that was part of the style or not. |

The Coloring is very good, very moody and has style. Only thing you should concentrate on is the anatomy. She looks more like a 19th Century Dwarf according to her proportions. Maybe you intended it so ignore that comment. |

Her head is too big, and the fog and background could be alot darker, its too light and kills the potential for atmosphere a little bit. Maybe try a little backlighting the the "from hell" figure. |

Your shading/texturing shows off some serious quality. The proportions ain't right (hint: legs are too big, eyes as well (and wrongly positioned), mouth...) though. Whatever, you got potential - keep up the good work. |

Great stuff Axl - nice aesthetic and nice work on her face.
My two cents:
She could use some of the ambient/atmosphere color in her outfit, so it looks more like she is in the setting rather than pasted on top of it. Basically, the environment looks like it is being hit with a warm yellow light, and the atmosphere is coloring it purple. The highlights on the woman look like they are being caused by a white or near-white light, and there isn't any sense of the purple influence on her.
There's something a little funky with the perspective/composition - her feet are shown in a straight front on shot, so I would expect the horizon line to be closer to the bottom of the page, as if either we are really far away and are looking at her through a telephoto lens, or we are closer to the ground looking up at her slightly (although the lines and planes of her body don't agree with that exactly). The fence and the light posts seem to have strange heights, which adds a bit to the ambiguity.
You could probably add a bit of depth by showing some atmospheric perspective, by having the fog color out the background guy and elements a bit. If you want, later at home I can try a paintover.
Still, nice image, keep up the good work. |

Thanks as always for your comments, I always find them helpful and informative.
There's always areas that I need to improve upon, perspective and lighting being two.
Still learning and adapting my style and how I see things.
Thanks again. |

I like how you got the volumetric fog in there - IMHO easy subject, hard as hell to do. Congrats. |
